Warden already confirmed it’s not a hasbro release, so it won’t be in wfc

Do you have a link to where it was said? Not recalling hearing that at all before.

I do not but it was an interview from toyfair, when asked about it he said it wasn’t a hasbro initiated project but that they knew there was interest in it. Not a hasbro project = not gonna be part of the main line

I feel like now is a good time to bust out the awesomeness of the Tidal Wave fight.

Honestly, I sometimes think that the constant rebooting of the toon & toys has contributed to a disposable culture, where very few people get attached to a new TF toon (or new version of any franchise toon).
The G1 love is so intense because it was all people had to obsess about from 1984-1996. And even longer if you consider a bunch of people weren’t into beasts at all. For them, that was 84-2001 where G1 was all they had & they burned every last little detail into their minds.

Now we have reboots every few years nonstop. It doesn’t allow for any time for these characters to really embed themselves in the public consciousness before they’re off and rebooted again. If a kid starts watching TFs at age 6, the show will likely have rebooted 3 times by the time they’re 12. And with everything constantly changing, it’s not surprising if we’re not seeing diehard devotion to any of the characters that have come out since RID 2001.

It’s nice when we do see that devotion, but it’s not surprising that the popularity of these modern series aren’t having the longevity that G1 has enjoyed.

With all due respect I do think that the reboots are a big part of the reason why the brand was able to survive all these years because despite them being short they were able to add something new to the lore in some form or another which helps keep things fresh and give other people options in case they don't like one series they could like this one. Yeah there's going to be a downside to rebooting every now and then like you presented but there's also the downside of Hasbro basically giving us nothing but G1 related content over and over again with little to no differences which will result in stagnation if not careful. I know people love that G1's getting this much love because of how beloved it is but there's also such a thing as getting too much of a good thing. So unless Hasbro wants to end up going the way of Telltale Games, it needs to start giving attention to the series that came after G1 along with their respective fans sooner or later.

I hope we will see him again at WonderFest next month, but this time completely painted and merged with the trailer

Another thing I hope we will see in the future are Armada Jetfire and Armada Overload. Obviously, compatibles with this Armada Optimus Prime

Totally true too. And I for one don’t want that either. There’s so much good from all the other iterations to ignore. I guess I can hope that they find some kind of middle ground solution. Like, maybe have a series that makes it to a fourth season and hangs around a little longer than usual. Or if they have to reboot, carry over some of the non-G1 characters so it’s not just the same faces over & over. Like, it’s great that Skybyte is in Cyberverse, but did it really have to take 18 years to see him in a mainline series again?

But given how the TT factories are churning out products left and right. Starconvoy for instance has been revealed like 6 months ago. Give them a 6 month window baring delays. I speculate that once its release we'll be getting more info on him (MP Lioconvoy not withstanding appearing outta nowhere)

Rebooting has kept the franchise alive and has introduced new and worthy concepts and characters. We would seriously be in a lot worse shape without the reboots. There’s love in all the reboots but it’s hard to compete with G1 and it’s 35 years of toys and stories.

Besides the world and kids entertainment was -dramatically- different in the 80s compared to today.

    Hang on.
    • Star Convoy's prototype was revealed on February 2019, 4 months ago.
    • Star Convoy's colored images were revealed on April 2019, 2 months ago.
    So...I'm stumped.

I see it both ways. I prefer to have a solid continuity for multiple seasons / years though. There was something special about having shows like Beast Wars, Armada ( the Unicron Trilogy to a larger extent), and Animated that were on the air and having a toy line running with it. I don’t feel we have that anymore, at least not to the extent of what we use to.

Exaggerations, maybe? Though, to be fair, February feels like it's been years ago.

I mean, Beast Wars and Animated had solid continuities for a few years, almost a decade for the former I believe. UT was a bit off but started strong. I'm a bit curious as to how it would've turned out under more strict supervision for keeping a solid story across the three.
