It's definitely possible, but I'm thinking it's incredibly unlikely.

Well, the movie really tied up some loose ends. Good way to actually finish Woody's story all together.

    Very bittersweet.

I just got back from seeing it. Was it as good as Toy Story 3? Heck no, I watched that movie again the other day, and I still think it's a masterpiece of animation. That much being said, I still thought Toy Story 4 was quite enjoyable. I'd say it's comparable to Toy Story 2. It meanders a bit, it's not quite as tight as the other installments, but it is well-done. Well, at least mostly well-done, I took problem with a couple aspects. I thought the new characters were solid, and I think they could potentially carry a new series of movies. I also liked that it didn't just retread ground from the other movies, it wasn't a bunch of nostalgia, or a rehash.

I didn't like how Woody left Bonnie in the end. I might be in the minority, but I didn't like this decision at all. Woody has always been extremely loyal. Seeing him leave Bonnie, especially for somewhat selfish reasons, just goes against everything we know about his character. It might not have felt as jarring if his relationship with Bo Peep had been better established in the earlier movies, but she was always more of a side character, not a serious love interest. Toy Story 3 directly addressed Woody's feelings on the issue...he was sad that Bo Peep was gone, but being there for his kid was more important to Woody than being with Bo Peep. Going back on that was jarring, to say the least.

I sort of get why they did it though. The original cast is aging out, and a couple of the actors have passed. And they're feeling played out. I was sort of hoping this movie would be the old gang's last moment to shine, but I guess that was Toy Story 3's job. This seemed to function as a transitional movie, to help set up a new status quo. I'm guessing the next movie (if there is one) will focus on this new group of toys (Woody, Bo Peep, the stuffed animals, Duke Kaboom, etc), not the old gang. I get why they did it, but I felt like getting there wasn't as good as it could have been.

Oh, and Buzz should have got the Sheriff star. That would have been a great way to being things full-circle from the first movie.

So yeah, it was solid, but not the best of the bunch. I'd definitely rank 1 and 3 above this. I'll have to see how it fares on rewatches, I could see it being higher or lower than 2.

Ranking Pixar films is like ranking my children but here goes.

    1. Toy Story Saga (all four films)
    2. Coco
    3. Up
    4. Inside Out
    5. Finding Nemo
    6. Monsters, Inc.
    7. Ratatouille
    8. WALL-E
    9. Incredibles
    10. Monsters University

There are a few scenes throughout the credits sequence. I’d compare it to Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 where there were a bunch before the midpoint if the credits. And there’s a dedication at the end of the credits, then a joke with the Pixar logo.

I get what they were going for, I just didn't feel like the setup was quite enough. Sure those things were set up, but I didn't feel they were focused on enough. I guess a contrast would be how Bonnie was focused on throughout Toy Story 3, so when she finally got the toys, it felt earned. The ending of this felt a little more rushed to me. Not bad, but also not as solid or satisfying as 3's ending.

Those aspects might very well feel better to me on a rewatch. This is going to be an interesting movie, to see how it ages for me.

Sitting in the theater now waiting for it to start. 1 hour to go. Only one here so far... lounging out in the recliner.

I absolutely loved the film. Enjoyed it from start to finish. My kids liked it, but my oldest felt it was an unnecessary sequel after #3 wrapped things up so perfectly. My younger daughter has loved Lotso Huggin' Bear since she was four and any Toy Story movie that didn't include him was sub par.

Nothing in your face but a little nice depth here and there.

Can keep making amazing Toy Story films? Yes they Can-ada!
