Always love a nice, bulky, armed-to-the-teeth Thunderclash, so count me in if the core bot looks good too. Powermaster Thunderclash has a nice ring to it (I know I know, there's not a Powermaster in sight here. Let me dream.)

How big is the core bot compared to official size classes?

It is funny how the core bot and the large bot have the same characteristics.

The inner bot is MP10 size. So, around ten inches tall.

Yep, this really shouldn't look as good as it does. Dang it... guess I will buy this mold a fourth time.

I'm so excited for this. I had this guy as a kid.

I think they will. These guys seem to be in the repainting spirit.

Actually only want the core robot for my Lost Light display... but shit, I'll take the monster-sized upgrade!

Looks really nice. Unfortunately I just looked up Power Baser and found out he was $200... with everything that’s coming down the line, I’m not sure I want to spend that much on one figure...

Yeah, the core bot looks very nice. I could see myself getting that, although I'd prefer him a bit shorter (the G1 toy Always looked and looks stumpy to me).

But the whole trailer and especially the combining gimmick...completely no interest in that. (Maybe if they had made it so he'd looked more like Hyperdrive(?).)

That's the common complaint. At the moment he is Thunderclash but also a Bigger Thunderclash. It's incredibly silly, kinda like Mario taking a mushroom. Definitely a missed opportunity. Oh well.

These pics were taken from the TFWorld2005 Dealer Room Pics thread from TFCon Toronto 2019 and the first one is from the 3rd Party slide show. Gone are the days when this was done automatically. Its done now I guess.

To be fair, that's pretty much what Powermaster Optimus Prime is: normal Optimus turns into Super Optimus with double firepower and shoulder cannons. But I agree Hyperdrive would have been a nice alt head at least.

I don't think that's the same. PM Optimus was in the Original design a normal (or perhaps smaller) core Optimus with the option to combine with the trailer and form the big Optimus. FH copying that is how it should be.

For Thunderclash/Thunder-Clash this was never the case. When Fans Hobby decided they would use this mould for Thunderclash, I think they should either have dropped the combination gimmick, or give it a reason for existing. And since Thunderclash never had the combination option, making it a bigger Thunderclash feels inadequate.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice bonus (and I'm sure people would complain otherwise), but for a character that never had a combined mode and with the "existence" of an unreleased bigger leader, having the combined mode be this mysterious Hyperdrive would have been the absolute best option. Of course, problem with that is that we don't have a colour guide for the character and the mould doesn't lend itself for it, requiring a lot of fake parts on his legs mainly.

Wouldn't be surprised if FH would release an upgrade set later with a Hyperdrive based head.
