I’m not saying we need R-rated movies, but some might argue that Disney’s family friendly mentality might hold the movies back a bit from reaching their full potential.

I see your point, I’ve heard that occasionally too. But I think at the end of the day, Marvel (and more so Disney) just want their movies to appeal to as wide a range of audiences as possible, so if the movie is rated R, that will reduce the amount of people who see it. I’m not sure by how much, but any potential losses is what they try to avoid.

Besides, Infinity War and Endgame seemed pretty dark, idk what more people could’ve wanted really. Nebula got Thanos’ blood spattered on her face when he was decapitated, Hawkeye murdered yakuza members (blood would’ve added realism but whatever, doesn’t detract either), Widow and Hawkeye fought each other to prevent the other from committing suicide, etc. All the while, half of the universe is just gone, which is terrifying when you consider the implications.

I’m sure they will stretch the PG-13 rating as much as they can with Black Widow. And hopefully if the true Mandarin shows up in Shang Chi, we can get some intense terrorism scenes. We’ll see, like I said earlier I’m not too concerned

With no more Iron Man it seems kind of pointless to bring back the Mandarin. I would love the crimson dynamo though in some kind of fashion.

There is a rumor going around that the real Mandarin could be in Shang Chi as a villain.

Yes.....I know, that's why I said it's pointless to bring him back without Iron Man. He is a great character but IM3 squandered his potential and now they want to do it right but without IM? No thanks.

If marvel would be smart, they'd hold off on any Iron Man villains til they're ready to recast Tony. May take five or ten years, who knows, but hoping they're taking that into account for future plans.

Shane Black can suck it far as I'm concerned. The last RDJ solo movie and he makes it one of the worst marvel movies. Gotta love Christmas though!

I find it extremely unlikely for Tony to ever return in the MCU ever. There may be another Iron person, I for one would like Rhodey to just continue on in the role, but there will never be another Tony. With Rhodey, you can still bring on someone like Crimson Dynamo or bring back Justin Hammer.

Agreed. I said before that I highly highly doubt they will ever have Tony Stark in the MCU again. Unless the entire universe is rebooted decades from now, RDJ is the only Tony Stark. I don’t care how much of a money maker he is, Kevin Feige and co have alluded multiple times that they’re moving forward. Now if they reboot the entire thing, sure, cast a new guy. But in this continuity, nah, not happening

It won't be... but DP also won't suddenly be part of the MCU either. Sounds like they have every intention of keeping him R-rated over in his own little universe, likely still under the Fox moniker.

It’s Deadpool, hand waving is practically part of his shtick.

Exactly. I think Deadpool might at most make small funny cameos in future MCU movies, if that. I haven’t heard of any plans to fully integrate him into the canon. Which is good, because it’s wouldn’t make any sense. Multiverse aside, it’s just not a good idea. Better imo to keep them separate where he can do whatever the hell he wants without infringing on the MCU timeline.

Only reason the cameos would be acceptable is because Stan Lee’s didn’t make much sense either lmao, but that was the enjoyment of it

As far as the next Deadpool goes, I think Ryan Reynolds wanted to make an X-Force movie first, so that could complicate things a bit.

Even Rhodey you'll have to recast cause Don is pretty old himself. Time will only tell though, but I'm personally of the opinion that the PR statements of corporate executives mean little.

We can put up on high RDJ Iron Man all we want, but I guarantee the Disney board of executives are already thinking to themselves when they can cash back in on the flagship character.

Rebooting Tony Stark’s character is probably one of the last things on Bob Iger’s mind. But you’re right, only time will tell

The only time I could ever see them bringing back Tony would be for a large movie like Infinity War at the end of another era. In the most recent appearance of Kang, the Avengers lead by Sam Wilson went and collected three teams of Avengers from different eras to fight him, so I could see them doing that.
