Whoever approved that bow-legged PoS illustration of Optimus on the right should go back to art classes. Ugh.

The toy looks pretty awful, too. My kid would actually probably like it - he seems to not care one way or another regarding articulation. He's got mainline Transformers, Imaginext figures, Lego Minifigures, and all the other stuff out there, but he just doesn't really seem all that concerned with articulation or not. I guess it's to each their own. I certainly wouldn't pay near retail prices for this toy, though.

If only they made a Megatron with Nemesis armor. Then the fandom will have no reason to keep going, we'd have achieved everything

me too. A walmart finally clearanced the $35 OP + Trailer set - i paid $9, but had to watch it for six months.

though - maybe walmart will get smart and not overstock these Ark ones. or will my luck they won’t stock them at all. there’s hardly any shelf space for Cybertron.

That is pretty true. (Though that's not saying much in my opinion.)

Rather like the Transformers Prime Optimus wearing Unicron armour.
I don't have to pay to much attention to these I'll be able to pick them up cheap eventually in an ARGOS sale since they sell them all.

I'd still like to know if the armour is interchangable across other toys (on the smaller sized ones anyway)

Thanks for taking one for the team @griffin-of-oz. :D

    Ingredients:
    1. Hot-boiling water.
    2. A bit of elbow grease.

    Recipe:
    1. Dip Optimus Prime's legs into hot-boiling water until plastic is soft & maleable.
    2. Use the elbow grease you cultivated through years spent in the gym to achieve bow-legged illustration.
    3. Pray that you haven't screwed up & wasted $79 AUD.
    :p

Gotta say for the money, this is a pretty basic mold. Sure he's a chunky thing but if they made it so simple for "the children," covering the armored mode in spikes seems like a misstep. Don't think any kids I know would want one of these, I'm imaging seeing these shelfwarming at Target in a few months.

But... but... the vastly improved Design & Engineering makes this toy worth the price mark up.

I realise how i would see this Prime as a functional giant mech used by Micromasters,
Also driving the ark and having the power to combine the mini Ark with this Micromaster controlled giant Mech of a Prime to fight Unicron.

Every time i buy a tfs, i try to fit it into a story i would write and draw. I know my stories are always full of action, wish i could work for IDW or any company with the tfs licence.

I don't think so, unless it is a redeco for another base toy. The Ark Armor is very specifically sculpted to only fit this Optimus toy, while most of the others also felt like they were specifically designed to only fit on the base robot that they were paired up with.

I'd almost agree with you except that UO at least has painted bits on him.

    --------------
Hasbro has been cutting knees out of select GIJoe (starting with Retaliation), Transformers and Star Wars for years now. Why are we still complaining about this? How many of you were really actually planning to buy this, saw there wasn't any knees and then decided it wasn't worth it? Most likely, this is will end up as a $25 Black Friday toy or at a discount retailer. that's the ONLY way I'm going to probably want this.

Knees would require extra engineering, extra molds, and extra steps in manufacturing to assemble the figure at the least. It seems simple to end users, who will only have one or a few of each character, but when you apply it to thousands or more of each figure, the tiny little insignificant costs add up and cut into the profits that make it a viable toy to bother putting out there. I mean that's why every figure ever doesn't have every point of articulation possible. Take something like cyber battallion Jetfire. Voyager sized figure sold for $20. But... no knees... Would I prefer it to have knees? Yes, it would have benefited greatly. Would I have spent $30 for it with knees? Maybe, but maybe not. At $20, though, I couldn't pass it up.
