That gives me the excuse to buy another! But first I really need to know about the articulation... If it has the same type of joints as the MPM, then I will just buy one and keep it in alt-mode.

WTF!! That looks impresive!! Who else thinks that design of optimus is better than the tlk prime and Bb movie prime design?

Honestly, I didn't like TLK design because of how impossible it was, and I think the BB movie design is too small.

    Me here.
I hated TLK designs. And while the G1 esque designs of the new movie is impressive in its own right it were the Bay movies I grew up with.

I liked the AOE/TLK design, but only as a giant robot design rather than a Transformer design. The zero kibble design just looks so strange, especially in Transformation sequences, like, my God was AOE Bee the most ugly thing once he switched to a newer Camaro. I wonder if that's the reason they changed his design in TLK because everyone knew how bad he looked. But yeah, I'd buy both the clean and battle-damaged versions. The nostalgia hits hard at the sight of that battle-damaged Prime, even if ROTF was the weakest out of the original trilogy.

I guess in natural lighting and background, the proportion issues don't stand out as much and at certain angles it's actually really good. A bummer that people are turned off by the abs still, as much as I respect their choice they're definitely missing out on something here. But yeah, in that image the head looks more round and the head size seems fine. The chest gap no longer bothers me either. I prefer the subdued metal finish on the battle-damaged version because every MPM uses a silver paint that's way too shiny and it gives him too much of a clean look. It's not off-putting, but it's definitely not my preference.

Regardless, this mold looks like a straight up custom that doesn't transform. It's that good! I better get my pre-order in but I need to sort some IRL things unfortunately. But late July release? I should make it.

The other day I was thinking about how I had lost interest in this and might skip it.
Now it's brought me back in...

Personally, g1 can stay in g1. I like it, but g1 optimus in a live action movie just really doesn't fit aesthetic wise. But I feel that out of all the different optimus designs, the designs from the 1st through 3rd are the best suited for the movies and overall look the best. The tlk and aoe designs while nice don't evoke the image of optimus prime, so I guess both g1 and tlk/aoe prime are tied for me in terms of design.

I like that it came into the movies, as while I love these movie designs, after 10 years, they had their time, so I think its fair enough to see how G1 in live action plays out.

This might be the first battle damaged figure I get. That will be in bot mode.

Truck mode will look awful though. The vehicles are never portrayed as damaged on screen.

I think the Bumblebee movie is a perfect balance between traditional character design with modernization. You can look at it and clearly recognize it as Prime and yet it has all the modernization and details of how he would look in a real life setting. Perfect design in my eyes. Same for Blitzwing *Cough Starscream*

First of all, I have to say that this is an incredible piece, but every time i see this thing it makes me sad that this wasn’t the official MPM Optimus we got those few short years ago.

Movie 1 - 3 Optimus is my favourite character desogn of all time, so i agree with you. I despised the AoE Optimus at first, but after seeing the third parties prove that the design is indeed possible he has really grown on me. The other AoE designs have grown on me as well, even Bumblebee (But only while he is wearing his battlemask)

BB Optimus however... I never liked the G1 designs. I'll admit that they worked quite well for a cartoon, but they just look odd in live action.
