what bother me the most is that the grey prototype had a better rear end, before they redesigned it.

Yeah, why'd the feet get twice as big in truck mode than before? Did they forget where they originally put the rest of the mass?

Just looking at the hinges, I'd say you could probably still transform them to look the same as the grey prototype.

Take a look at the high-res version of that picture, from the original front page news mention of him. If you compare it to these recent pictures, the foot is quite clearly the other way around - the heel detail is visible on the top of the grey prototype, where it's at the bottom of the coloured one. The piece on the bottom is obviously different on the coloured one, having that double-hinge part, but if his feet can still swing around it might be possible to get a close, if not identical transformation.

Personally, I'm more disappointed by the grey/white/silver band. It looks like it's been painted on too thick, then mushed about with some fingers before it's completely dried. I mean, just compare it to this glorious digi that Cheebs did back in May. Smooth, clear, crisp and shiny! The rest of the "weathering" I'm mostly indifferent about (I'd prefer without), but that stripe... blech; and the bumper isn't winning me over either.

(Maybe it actually was painted on the proto too thick, then mushed about by hand? Still off-putting, though I'll likely wind up pre-ordering one of these before too long regardless.)

Yeah, if they were doing it like how Cheebs' digibash looked, I'd have already preordered it.

The rear end leaves a bit more to be desired definitely. I hope the head just wasn't properly pegged on those photos with the white background. Looks like a floaty head or it's only supported by the chin. Lol!

Then they failed miserably---It looks a whole lot more like feet now. Real trucks have flat/cut-off ends, not angular toes sticking out.

Who else wishes that they atleast put the feet on the truck bed instead of having them just stick off the back.

I'm just wondering why everyone cares about the truck mode's rear end this much. It's clear that the main draw is the robot mode, the alt mode is gonna have some sacrifices made to ensure the robot mode is perfect, which I think is completely valid.

IRRC, the legs were redesigned (in the stream), what you're looking in the official pics it's transformed correctly.

The ss38, while not a perfect robot, made definitely an attempt.

What makes this guy any different form the MP10?.

A completely different transformation scheme, more articulation, and better paint job.

I mean If I play along with ya, what makes every Optimus different? They are all a red and blue truck with the colors in the same exact spots, all of them have windshields in the same spot, the rear always makes the legs, He always has a mouth-plate, and he's always an Autobot. So really how is any Optimus different from the previous one?

That's not the situation---it was better before. Now it's worse, and robot mode isn't even 1% different/better. That's not "making a sacrifice for robot mode perfection"----that's changing alt-mode for the worse, for no reason.
