Personally, I’m really tired of real world politics in Transformers comics and I don’t like Livio’s art so I guess I’ll skip this.

It's sad to say, but all they need for a good chunk of people is the Transformers title on the cover. No matter how shitty the content is, there's a lot of people who will buy it.

I don't know. SPD's version is so lifeless. Boring even. Maybe not the best example to compare the styles (even though yeah I know...it's the same damn scene).

Now if I understand this, the Constructicons arc will be around the era depicted in the main comic, a time when the modern factions are not yet fully formed. That means, if the Constructicons get to fight someone, it could be anybody. They could be facing the start of a conflict with some group that would later be part of the Autobots. Or they could put them against some nastier characters, so we cheer for the Constructicons.

Thematically, I would like to put this group that builds against a group that wrecks (and rules).

    I didn't say it was bad. :p
I'm actually intrigued about what it'll contain. Hopefully something good.

OK, so people have different tastes, and I can see not appreciating SPD's version on its own, but when specifically comparing an identical scene as done by Ramondelli, calling SPD's version "lifeless"...

I truly can't get my head around that....

It sure as hell isn't Livio, for me. Scraping through the bottom of the barrel. I refuse to buy a single issue more of his crap.

I never really considered the spotlights as a proper anthology series since they were required to understand the -ation series (And was more of a clusterf*ck to read in the correct order than even any of the recent crossover stuff); so I'm excited for this series.

I really hope the following happens:
    • Spotlight Seaspray
    • Writers change every arc. I read the press release but I'm still not sure if Tyler Bleszinski is an ongoing writer or just for this arc.
    • arcs are no longer than 3 or 4 issues
    • More colony worlds, the number of worlds shouldn't be restricted by cyber-planet keys or ores
    • One artist for an arc (Unless it's Pitre-Durocher or Guidi, since we've seen them emulate other art styles very well)
    • Doesn't crossover with the main ongoing aside from some historical references
    • Spotlight Seaspray

Livio is certainly divisive, but at least he's an actual fan. Yes, he (still!) needs to work on panel to panel storytelling, which is kind of ridiculous at this point, but as someone upthread pointed out, Alex was not amazing at first either... frankly, he didn't truly blossom until MTMTE, by absorbing a touch of Roche (compare his first few covers to the interiors). Once that lightbulb went off, Alex improved demonstrably. Maybe Livio will have the same type of epiphany.

I'm not familiar with Vox or anything, and yes, I'm not a fan of iDW's tendency to use untried writers, but again, at least the guy appears to be a fan. I'm starting to think that needs to be the main attribute going forward for Transformers creatives.

At least he actually draws his own art, and doesn't trace others, like the guy that idw is hiring for the alternative covers.

Spotlight: Seaspray, you say? Yes. This must happen. Hopefully it would explain why an alien robot from a water-less planet has "Sea" in his name.

I think a lot of Milne’s early problems can be directly traced to being forced to conform to Dreamwave’s house style. It’s just not a fair comparison.

I don\'t care what anybody says. I always liked Livio\'s work. It really captures the mood of the story he\'s drawing for.

Word. I just wish he could diversify his colouring. Give more dimensions to the mood he creates. Cause it gets boring after a while. It peaked at Autocracy but it lost me afterwards.

I had this sort of conversation before with some people who raise the styles of older TF comic artists as an unfair status over him, but I appreciate Livio's work as a whole. His style is more emphasis on lighting and the way the colors relay the story, again capturing the atmosphere. His best was still between Autocracy and the Dead Universe part of "Dark Cybertron" but credit to the man for having a very open fan to creator relationship and he's really a nice guy about all of it.

Elitist much? I can guarantee you some of my colleagues could write a better Transformer story than the self-congratulatory talentless hacks you look up to.
