Interesting stuff

 

I hope Pulse have a limit in place like 2 per person. I tried to get the 20th Darth Maul bam sold out in like 2 seconds. Had it in my cart sold out while going through check. That was bullshit.

 

Or better yet, let us preorder the darned things. If this doesn't happen (I kinda assumed this would happen with the Premium bit in the beginning-- yeah, silly me), this Pulse Premium thing is basically almost worthless to me and I'll be abandoning it after the free year is over.

I've done the "wait around all day" and still have them sell out before I could even check out with them in my cart. I'm not doing that again. If I can't check on the day every hour or so and easily be able to get it, I'm not going to bother with Hasbro Pulse and get them on eBay (after the initial price surges die down). To me the extra cost on eBay is well worth not sitting on my butt all day (or multiple days) with the possibility of still being disappointed.

"Reserve your place in line so you can buy", what a butt move. "Reserve your figures" for everyone should have been a no-brainer.

 

Suggestion, for you guys going to SDCC, snag as many as you can and post 'em in the Botbot Barter Thread even if you hate BB's--the folks in this community who do will make Big Damn Heroes of you for getting 'em a chance at the unobtainable.

Yeah, but we've all known Hasbro to be the God-Emperor of Total Dickmovery... and we still deal with them anyway, because we're all addicts and we enable their misbehavior by letting them act like they hav us by the balls.

I'm so glad they lost the Jurassic license... though Mattel is little better, most of their problems are at least management incompetence rather than deliberate perfidy.

 

Eh, to an extent. (SDCC exclusives are about the limit of that extent for me.) Back in... oh, 2012 after I waited multiple days for a properly-colored FoC Bruticus set to be released on HTS, then it came and went before I could literally even check out with it even though I refreshed the page every minute or two, that was when I started giving up on the wait times for these things. Ever since then when it came time for people to sit in front of their computer for who-knows-how-long for a possible 30-second window to checkout, I've just bought mine on eBay. Yeah, some of the later exclusives have come on HTS/now Hasbro Pulse and just sat there for a few months before finally selling out, but it's difficult to tell which ones. I was hoping Pulse would change that, but if it doesn't-- well, like I said, they won't be getting my money, at least directly. (And I do have an upper limit I'm willing to go for these on eBay-- it's admittedly a liberal upper limit, but there is one.)

And of course year after year it seems like Hasbro slowly gets worse with their distribution of their toys. There may be a day in the not-so-distant future when I say "screw it" and just migrate over to 3rd-party stuff only, especially if the size of what Hasbro is offering continues to decline so quickly in relation to the price. I mean if you had told me that non-knockoff 3rd party toys would actually in many cases be a BETTER deal than official Masterpiece toys 5 or 6 years ago I'd have laughed in your face. Now I have Maketoys Despotron in my collection and skipped MP Megatron 2.0 completely. That may happen more and more often...

 

I've cut back to the point where outside of Botbots/Tiny Turbo/similar "small, cheap desk-bot" lines, I generally only buy Studio and Masterpiece with real-world-accurate aircraft altmodes. (No Nitro Zeus/Studiocracker/KSI Boss here!) Buster Prime and Ectotron are only for the Childhood Nostalgia Trip...
