Actually, Highlander is not a bad comparison to Halloween in that you have a brilliant original movie, and then every movie sequel after that (in the original series) is varying levels of crap. A couple may be tolerable. But none are worthy of the first movie.

The same goes for the Alien and Predator franchises. I mean sure, Aliens is one of the best sequels ever, but it still doesn't hold a candle to the original. Nevertheless, everything afterwards and every Predator sequel has range from average to donkeyshit.

Alien and Aliens are both different movies which both succeed in their respective goals . Alien as a Horror movie and Aliens as a Action movie to me it is impossible to say which one is better

Just saw it and I gotta say it is indeed the best Halloween movie after the original. It managed to replicate the original atmosphere and horror perfectly, if not without some plot and character issues. Most noticeably the doctor. I didn't like him and I dread to think if he was going to be Loomis himself doing what he did...!

Well they originally wanted to do a redo of the ending of the first movie where Micheal kills Loomis but thankfully Carpentar convinced to not do it

Went to see Halloween again tonight. Enjoyed it just as much as the first time, maybe even moreso, but as I said before, it still has its flaws. Nevertheless, it stays at a 9/10.

I just watched my BD of the new Halloween. I was kind of worried that with the hype and mood of Halloween gone that I was going to suddenly see why people hate this movie, but nope, it was even better than the two times I saw it in theaters, so I have no idea what those crazies are talking about (especially those that think Zombie's dogshit is better).

The bonus features are all right. Pretty much every deleted scene was clearly deleted for a reason. I do wish some of the other features were a lot longer though, especially the one on Carpenter and gang making the soundtrack. I feel like they were all just pieces taken from a good hour long documentary they intentionally held back for one assnine decision or another.

Well whatever. So glad I get to own this movie now. It may end up becoming a newer movie that gets viewed the most in my collection.

Yeah recently rewatched it myself on Blu-Ray and it still holds up, honestly sometimes I find myself liking it more then the original. Currently it sits atop the others in the series as my favorite and the best.

Probably going to sit down and watch it yet again once the NECA Michael Myers comes in from BBTS this week :lol

Unless they want to return to the anthology idea but have it be different people talking about the legend of Michael Myers and make stories based around that, I just don't see what more they could do after this latest one. It was the perfect ending to the Strode tragedy.

Man, they are really getting lazy with clickbait headlines. Of course a multi-million dollar production is going to look to hire a screenwriter; even if it seems like a lot of Hollywood movies these days are made without scripts.

Jokes aside, this guy seems to like slow burn writing from what I can tell, so it should be interesting to see how he adjusts to a condensed slasher film narrative.

Yeah, I'm worried now. I think it's time the franchise move away from the Strodes.

Except they don't really have to be related for it to work now. Laurie is basically Ahab to Michael's whale. She won't stop until she sees Michael dead for good. It's a nice role reversal from past continuities if you think about it. Plus, I'm sure Michael wouldn't mind getting a little revenge against the Strodes for trying to burn him alive. Either way, I'm game for a follow-up. However, I don't think it should go beyond one more film. End it with the next one that way we'll have a nice trilogy when these new movies are coupled with the original '78 film.
