The guy on the top looks like he's from The Labyrinth.

Merely quoting. It’s a Gwildor line.

There's really no reasons to do so. There really wasn't any reason to do so back than with the plethora of characters that already existed in the toyline and other media. The documentary I watched recently was talking about how the only reason they introduced new characters into the film in the first place was on the instance of the director and writers of the time... you know... the whole bullshit putting their own stamp on the film kind of thing. If it ain't broke than don't try and fix it.

Well, even if they wanted to hit some diversity quota they wouldn't even need to do all that as there are plenty of diverse characters to choose from already if were talking the entire franchise (even without She-Ra, but I doubt those characters would be off limits). Between the original (tv series, mini-comics, new and old ongoing comics), NA, 200X, the obscure shit and Matty's Classics line... the diversity is already there. They might have to dig a bit for some, but it's there.

The only reason Gwildor was created was that they didn’t have the budget and the FX’s to make Orko believable enough at the time. Karg’s makeup job was very well done for a one off character. Skeletor’s robot trooper were cool. I really wanted Mattel or S7 to make those guys.

They still ended up just making versions of Beastman, Khobra Khan, Grizzlor, and Trapjaw.

I'm hoping we get Mega Construx figures but hope it won't kill the main line.

Orko actually would be pretty easy to do, even in 1986 (or whenever the movie came out). Blue Screen!! Get a guy to be in the Orko suit. Black stocking over his face with just his eyes showing. Some radio controlled ears. Guy wearing blue leggings/pants. Film him in front of a blue screen. His legs disappear. Wind machine makes his cloak billow a little. If they know how they want Orko to move, the guy just walks around and bobs up and down a little to make it more believable he is floating. You can't see Orko's mouth so easy to voice-over him.

Insert Orko into scenes. Some scenes you could have Orko on set if something is in front of him or you don't see below his cloak. They did blue screen work in the film (flying things) & Hollywood had perfected it since the Star Wars movies years before.

It may also have been a money issue. I keep reading they blew a lot of cash on then Castle Grayskull set hence the movie going to then-present day Earth to save on more sets and the like. Hell, He-Man and Skeletor’s final sword fight was filmed on the director’s personal dime.

From what I've heard, you're both correct. They wanted to put Orko in the movie, but didn't think they could do a convincing floating character with the special effects and budget they had. I have to like Gwildor, though, just because it's Billy Barty, who is awesome.

Other than Gwildor, Karg, and Saurod, wasn't Blade an original character too? I remember they made a toy for him that came out after the movie, and I thought he was a pretty cool character.

I genuinely liked the Lundgren movie and to watch it now is like watching a fun and cheesy 80s movie. The only issue I ever had with it is Cox's character. Regarding this new movie, I can't help but feel like no matter what they do, I will be ultimately disappointed with it because they hype is so huge and this franchise holds such a special place in my heart.

I have no problem with the 80s movie other than when it came out I was too young to go see it :(  so my Uncle got me a pirate VHS copy to watch at home! :)

Yeah, the movie wasn't that bad back in day but it was just ahead of his time.

Well they did make it into the 80s toyline and mini comics.

Also looks like she-ra is back at universal studios.

The last time she was there.

If this movie still in production, i'd like to see original sci fi/fantasy creatures.

Yeah, he was played by a reputable fencing instructor of the day.

Honestly though while the movie isn’t great I can watch Langella’s Skeletor all day.
