Forget Masters of the Universe, that is Marble of the Universe. For atriums, hallways, bathrooms and balconies.

I'd like to see a generic version based on final fantasy video games series.

I’d dig that. High Fantasy mixed with a bit of Space Opera.

The setting is going to be similar to Thor: Ragnorok, I’d imagine... barbarian with tech.

Interesting poster... It... kind of reminds me of the white mailers you get with you MOTU Classics figures. :lol  Honestly though... it'd be a nice surprise if this turns out watchable at least. Hopefully the writers, director and producers embrace it for what it is and don't try to reinvent the wheel.

Yes, but if we want to get specific, it's a Planetary Romance (not a space opera) with heavy elements of both the High Fantasy and Sword and Sorcery genres.

EDIT: It's also a pretty much exact match for the Sword and Planet genre, which I hadn't heard of before today :)

I wasn't surprised when i read this yesterday. Seeing as 2yrs ago they said 2019 release date and now 19' is here and it's going on till now 21'. I just don't think we will ever see this movie in theaters. I thinking they will keep passing and passing till this runs out of steam im my opinion.

I think both terms are easily intermixed. It's one of my main interests. ERB, pulp 70s/80s Sword and Planet novels, the pinball games, Frazetta and Boris Vallejo/Julie Bell art, even MOTU to some extents mean as much to me as superhero and traditional Sword and Sorcery.

I'm too young to have been around in it's heyday except for the Vallejo art peak, but there was still plenty of that stuff left over to get into.

If they don't get James Wan to direct this, they're nuts. Aquaman, afterall, basically already was He-Man just set underwater. The scope, the colors, the action, the costumes, even the accidental campy cheese... all of it a perfect template for what most people would want/expect from a properly done take on MOTU.

Agreed. AND it would actually give me hope in us getting something watchable and fun at the very least.

Wan is too busy with Warner producing the conjuring franchise right now.

Yeah, between the original, New Adventures, 2000X, and all the obscure characters from other sources like foreign comics (Brazil had a extensive original ongoing in the 80s) and the Matty toyline, there's so many characters now that could fill in most possible roles, that the only excuse I could see is to fill in some diversity quotas (and even then, they could gender-swap, race-change, or swap the orientation of characters they already have). This is assuming She-Ra characters are off limits due to technically being different licenses.

Gwildor wasn’t bad, and Karg was plenty cool.
