When you hit rock bottom, there’s no way to go but up.

Maybe that was the idea, to have Rosenberg bring the X-Men as low as possible so that Hickman could left them all the way back up.

After all, Hickman’s stated this was all about bringing them back into the light.

so i'm looking to see what's coming out next week and i come across this cover. i know it's an old meme at this point but every time i see something new from this man i still wonder how he keeps getting work. this late into his career and he still can't draw a person holding a gun right? or guns themselves for that matter...i don't even know where to start about how ugly this cover is and all the errors in it.....i just don't understand it at this point. is it just because he's bad? they keep him around because it's funny?

It's to each their own. Some people actually like/dont mind his art. He got followers, he still got people that want a sketch/autograph/etc.

Imo, I dont think he's the best but im able to stand his art, maybe because ive been reading comics for a long time and just got used to it.

While other artists I dislike, just couldn't get used to it or just dont like the style. Might sound crazy but I could finish a Leifeld title over some of these other titles.

Part of me thinks it is on purpose or just his style he created, because some of his early work he has no problems drawing feet, etc.

    I did not expect this:

Marvel's 80th Anniversary Story Continues in MARVEL COMICS #1001

Like Marvel Comics #1000, #1001 will feature a wide array of creative talent spread across its unspecified page count. The partial list announced on Marvel.com includes Al Ewing, Nick Spencer, G. Willow Wilson, Scott Aukerman, ACO, Brian Posehn, Howard Chaykin, Vita Ayala, Humberto Ramos, Audrey Loeb, Dario Brizuela, Ann Nocenti, Kim Jacinto, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, Declan Shalvey, Kaare Andrews, Amy Reeder, Natacha Bustos, Frank Tieri, Dan Panosian, André Lima Araújo, Bill Morrison, Trina Robbins, and Marc Guggenheim, with more to be named. The cover, seen here, is by Rod Reis.

The issue continues the story of the 'Eternity Mask' and its wearer which will begin in August 28's Marvel Comics #1000. Both the mask and its owner remain mysterious, with few details yet revealed.

Hmm...I’ll keep an eye on this (the Spider-Man Oneshot Tekkaman Blade posted earlier).

    The cover is alright.

    So in Uncanny X-Men #20

Nasty Boys are found dead. Fabian Cortez, Sienna Blaze, and Shinobi Shaw all who I thought were dead arent anymore (im betting no reason why, he didnt do his research). Shaw kills himself. Illyana kills Dark Beast by opening a hole in the floor then closing it around his neck.

Rosenburg has killed amost a dozen in the last last few issues....so who's next, im sure he aint done.

I believe there are two issues left, so hopefully no more mutants die.

Yeah, I have zero interest in reading any comic Liefeld draws now, and less than zero interest in reading anything he writes. But I'd read Liefeld comics all day long over anything done by the guy who drew Gail Simone's recent Plastic Man debacle and is currently drawing Female Furies for DC. With Liefeld, you can at least kind of understand how he snuck in on the coattails of real artists like Jim Lee and Todd McFarlane. His work is not to my taste, but I get how the stars aligned for him and he was able to break in at exactly that point in time, whereas he wouldn't have had a shot in hell 5 years earlier or maybe 10 years later. But that Female Furies guy makes my blood boil and my eyes bleed. He's offensively incompetent on a whole other level.

Well, only two more issues of this slaughter fest of a series. And Age of X-Man is almost over.

Then, Hickman’s time to shine. :)

Then, for the first time in years, many people, including me, will be very excited with the X-Men as a whole.

I just hope it’s not confusing to follow.

I think Hickman's work sometimes works better in trades as he builds up - things get a bit slow and thus a bit hard to follow when he does, which is why I kind of dropped his Avengers run post Infinity.

Also did anyone else see Marvel's supposed big Spidey announcement? Was not really impressed by the JJ Abrams and son Spidey comic announcement.

    Good advice.

Also, I did not expect that to be the announcement:

    SPIDER-MAN Countdown Leads to J.J. ABRAMS (& Son)-Written Series

I though that this was the announcement:

LARSEN, BAGLEY, and CONWAY are GOING BIG in Their SPIDER-MAN Return

Well, I'll possibly J J Abrams a shot. I liked some of the movies that he's directed, and I wonder if this ties in to Amazing Spider-Man in any way?

Plus, it's a five issue mini series.

    Cover looks interesting.

At least Spider-Man is getting something old, and something new.

In fairness, does it really matter if the Nasty Boys are alive or dead?

Still, I’ll be glad to see the door hit Rosenberg’s ass on the way out. The book is a barely comprehensible mess at this point.

because JJ Abrams can't do ANYTHING without making it a fucking "mystery-box" marketing setup.

So JJ is going to ruin Spider-man now? He can never finish what he starts.

Not true. You can mill around at the bottom of the hole until it floods and you drown. I just assumed that was Marvel's plan.

I don't hate Liefeld, but no lie, this cover made me laugh because Cable reminds me of Bill the Cat.
