Wheels make no sense? Doors I can understand, but wheels are kind of an insanely useful and practical thing for any ground-based vehicle to have, alien or not.

You're using "copyright' and "trademark" as though they are interchangeable, and they're not.

To be fair, Transformers make no sense. This whole thing is based on our willing suspension of disbelief.

    That, and sweet, sweet nostalgia...

Ok to be frank the ICRC has full ownership of the red cross you cant just slap it on something without paying them. That is the problem.

    You forgot.

There have been cases where copyright has indeed been extended, well past the original date. It wasn't just Sonny Bono, but Disney too:

    - Copyright Term Extension Act - Wikipedia

Incorrect. A Logo can simply be a symbol. It does not require text:

    -
(Source: - Definition of LOGO )

Thus, your interpretation of the term "logo" is inaccurate. The Red Cross symbol is indeed, a logo.

I’m just not a fan of the cartoon ratchet’s colors; the gray crest just looks ugly to me. The marvel colors are a lot better, IMO.

I'll be getting him either way, but that looks sooooo much better.
I would hold out hope that Takara's version would look like that, but lately their releases are identical to Hasbro's. So I guess I have to hope that some third party company makes replacement hands and waist section.
There is obviously the option to paint, but to me DIY paint jobs are RARELY as good as factory paint and being molded in color is always preferred.

Ooh, that's not a bad idea.
I kind of forgot about dying plastic. I did some red dying on the Classics Megatron's arms YEARS ago, and it turned out great.
The main worry there would be leeching of the dye in to other plastic parts that are contacting the dyed parts, but like I said, I have had good results in the past.
I wonder if I still have that pot I was using for dying laying around somewhere...

I was hoping someone like Nonnef could do a new waist piece, but I was looking at the figure ... it looks like you can't get that piece off without damaging the figure. There isn't any screw or mushroom peg that pops off?

Hasbro has been doing that a lot lately: Using pins or some other methods instead of screws, or over detailing pieces so you can't really apply a Toyhax sticker. Its almost like they are trying to kill the 3rd party upgrade market.

I don't blame them using pins. All things considered they're a much lower profile way of putting in a joint. And that's important when you look at how thin some of the joints have to be these days.

Besides the part where 3Ps are basically making money off their IP, I would consider the molded detail as Hasbro trying to compensate for having fewer paint details. They can't paint the detail, so they try to mold it in. Honestly, I don't mind the "flatter" designs even as recently as the Prime Wars...

Upgrade kits aren't IP infringing, especially a generic red waist.

There is no 3rd party market. At least not to their knowledge. You should watch the QA videos when they are asked about 3rdP. If you start about it they will tell you to stop asking. Because if they acknowledge the existence of 3rdP they have to act. Or they lose their IP. And everyone will understand it will be a massive maze to get to every 3rdP and major lawsuits if they do. It would be endless. Though if HasTak gets forced into acting don't think they will give 3rdP a pass. They simply ignore them since their market is tiny. As much as we as fans either buy or talk about 3rdP. The brick and mortar stores as well as the massive online retail simply for movie figures and lines like Prime and Cyberverse is where the real money is for Hasbro.
But you can put your money on it that if 3rdP ever becomes a threat some people be going to see jail bars.

So is HasTak trying to screw over 3rdP? Haha no. It is simply design choices and esthetics. People wanted more detailed molding, so they deliver. Ball joints need a specific tolerance, something with hinges you do not have to worry about. Maybe this is a design/manufacturing test phase. But I doubt they are thinking that " wait maybe 3rdP needs to take this piece off so lets keep it ball joints… you kidding me?

People keep saying stuff like this as if it's something anyone can do, and it'll look just the same as if Hasbro did it that way in the first place.

That's just not true. I paint my figures when I have to, but they're never as good as if they came that way in the first place.

Let's assume I'm not, since the fact that you even can ask suggests it's not universally common knowledge.

Which is very much the point.

You could just leave it alone and let it be completely the wrong color.

Besides, it's not like Hasbro does a good job of matching paint to plastic, so I don't get this argument anyway.
