Since that was one of the best ones and is on a platform long discontinued, that would actually be a great idea. I mean I know the HD collection exists, but still. Raiding the PS1/2 Library for forgotten gems is in my view a winning strategy.

I mean, new stuff is always appreciated but a second chance at a missed classic is nice too.

To be honest, Playstation is already going to have a rough ride there in the long term reguardless.

The typical market for (non-Nintendo) AA-AAA games is like 300-500k and even the heavyweights like Monster Hunter World and Final Fantasy 15 only did a couple of million. With Switch becoming the dominant platform and there being a modest market for the titles that it can't run, they are going to have a very hard time giving that region reasons to move on to PS5 in a hurry.

Good news for western PS4 owners on a tight budget though since SE, Capcom, Bamco and Sega will probably be supporting it deep into next gen.

It’s coming out isn’t it? People are complaining about it due to “switch tax” in that Capcom aren’t releasing the collection like they have on other consoles, just the remastered version of DMC1.

I don't. Very rarely do I ever take anything on the internet personally.

Hell, I don't even take the one guy who tells me on my vidoes that I should be ashamed for reviewing non-American content and to go kill myself personally.

If they're going to raid a library, why the hell have they not remastered the Legacy of Kain series already? :lol

My user name is taken from that game series. Like come on already Eidos!!! If you're not going to give us a brand new LoK game, or a remake of Soul Reaver, at least remaster the friggin series.

Well the most obvious reason that springs to mind, is that Legacy of Kain isn't as popular as Devil May Cry.

More to the point is that they are different publishers, so the release of one of those is completely irrelevant to the release of the other.

So Square should be making it popular. It ain't going to become popular by doing nothing with it.

To be fair, it’s hard to be popular when you don’t make more games.

So, do you think Battletoads will maintain its insane difficulty? Or do you think they'll make it challenging but fairer?

I think it should have a level difficulty setting.

    Beginner's setting called YOU WIMP!!!
All the way to the highest called True Battletoad!!!

And if you beat the game lower than True Battletoad, you will get a message saying:
Congratulations! But if you want to see the true ending, beat the game on the highest difficulty.

    :)

I like your thinking. Though I'd prefer a more balanced challenge.

I don't think the gameplay looked good at all from the off-screen footage that came out of E3, very slow pace and a bad case of prioritising animation over playability.

If it was the only decently funded Beat 'em Up coming soon then I might be a bit more forgiving, but SOR4 and River City Girls both look significantly better then this does.

    For next year's E3:

E3 2020 Reportedly May Become a 'Festival' with 'Queuetainment' and Disney FastPass-Style System - IGN

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is hoping to turn E3 2020 into a "fan, media, and influencer festival" that would feature "Queuetainment" and a Disney FastPass-style system.

As reported by GameDaily.biz, the ESA's plans were revealed in a pitch deck intended for the lobbying group's members that was inspired and in response to "feedback from publishers."

The ESA proposes that influencers and paid celebrity deals become more of a focus, with examples including "members of the Los Angeles Lakers playing a basketball video game in front of fans or actors competing in a tournament."

As for those attending the show, the ESA membership approved adding an additional 10,000 gamer badge holders. This would bring the total number of consumers to 25,000 and would potentially lead to an industry-only day on the Tuesday before the public gains access on Wednesday and Thursday.

These 10,000 gamer badge attendees wouldn't make E3 anywhere near one of the biggest shows in the world, as Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad notes that E3 2019 saw 66,000 people attend compared to the 373,000 that Gamescom drew.

The plans also propose that a Disney FastPass-style system be implemented that would allow users to "register for a demo time window and come back later to avoid waiting for hours at a time for a single game."

That doesn't mean there won't be long wait times, and the ESA hopes to incorporate "queuetainment" to "market to those in line." This would allow for E3 exhibitors to "have access to consumer data captured through the app or have a captive audience as people wait in line for demos."

The pitch deck also discusses utilizing "The Power of Social Good" and "suggests exploiting Millennial and Generation Z propensity for giving back."

It also proposes “Experience Hubs” in the West Hall, “exclusive/appointment only activations for select attendees who will create buzz and FOMO,” and “Paid Media Partnerships” that would enable the “ESA to control content and the messaging.”
These changes and more are all in response to the changing landscape of the video game industry that allow publishers to hold their own events as to not be drowned out by the deluge of news from an event like E3. They are also being put in place to to combat such happenings as Sony/PlayStation not attending the show and Microsoft mostly holding its own events at the Microsoft Theater across LA Live.

The plans, however, do not go much into detail about the leak of over 2,000 E3 2019 media attendee's information and how the ESA is ensuring that the data of those attending is safe and secure.

While it remains to be seen what this show will actually become, we do know that E3 2020 will take place in Los Angeles, CA, from June 9-11, 2020. Hopefully, it will reveal more details on Xbox's Project Scarlett and Halo Infinite, the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and maybe even Metroid Prime 4.

...I don't think this is the step in the right direction, especially if they bring in people who have zero interests in video games.

Well.. The video game awards are going to become more important in the next few years. Good think Nintendo saw this coming and went direct style.

Are they insane? The only reason anyone’s ever cared about E3 was because they’re a trade show where big things get shown. What is their big brained idea, an even worse Vidcon?

Yeah, E3 is becoming less important with age. I remember people panicking when Nintendo called it quits, but it became the best thing for them. They figured that they shouldn’t waste so much resources for mediocre showings, and 2018 was proof of dat.
