Like, bendy wire? Definitely not. I don’t know if there’s mid-wing joints hidden in the sculpt or not.

Welp, got Rodan & Mothra pre-ordered. Really need to try and get Ghidroah at some point now to finish the cast... And also figure out where I'd put him lol.

For those who are on the fence or wary that Gojira 2019 might have the derpy eye issue, I got good news and bad news.

I’ll start off with bad news which is: the figure still has this issue.

    The good news are:

    1. For the samples I checked, it’s not prevalent as the 2014 issue.

    2. It’s hardly noticeable even if you look straight on because of the snout and brow design.

    3. If you can buy it in person, always check the left eye first. Not because it’s easier to see but it’s mostly the problematic one.

The left eye must always be dead centre if one wants to avoid the derpy issue.

So far, I’ll managed to select figures with “straight” eyes.

But please note one buyer in my country had a very slight derpy right eye.

Congrats! It’s a nice figure! I haven’t opened mine yet though.

How’s the eyes on yours? Ok?

    I... can live with it.

It's not terrible, but it could be a bit better. Definitely better than the one Neca one I saw.

Ok, most important is that you are fine with the figure. For me, the eyes and head of a figure must be paint defect free.

The good thing about this figure is that derpy eyes are not obvious due to the design of the brow and the small eyes.

The main problem with the Neca version is they use too much white and the iris is too big.

But darn it, I really like the texture and colour of the Neca. If they fixed the eyes, I won’t be getting the SH Monsterarts version.

You like that color? It's so light, looking beige even in some in-hand shots.

From those that I’ve seen, it doesn’t come across as beige.

I do like the wash bringing out the details of the figure and how it doesn’t look multi-jointed as compared to the SHM version.

I must admit that I’m tempted to back track on some SHM figures but I’m so wary of the derpy eye issues...one buddy got a derpy issue on the reissued Burning G! How can that be possible with the large pupils?! X)

I think its been quite awhile since I posted anything on this thread. Here's some of my latest pick-ups in the past year:

From left to right: Legendary2019. Heisei (Rebirth), KiryuGoji

...and not forgetting Gamera and Heisei Goji!

I'm not sure how many more of these I'm gonna get, but the Heisei Godzilla is one I definitely want.

Oh yeah, I would really recommend the Rebirth version since its an improvement over the original release. The overall sculpt is an improvement but it may have the following issues:

    i) derpy eyes
    ii) gappy

For me, essential pieces will be Heisei Goji & Heisei King Ghidorah as I grew up watching abit of Showa and more of Heisei...personally King G is a must have because in my mind, he's the main enemy of Goji. For Heisei fans, the next tier will be Destroyah, Burning Goji, Space Goji and Little Goji.

I'm getting Legendary King G too by the way...still on the fence with Mothra and Rodan. Oh yeah, and Kong when Bandai releases him!

Well, I found a really good price on the Birth ver. Godzilla on Amazon, so I guess I'm doing this. There's probably a good reason it was so cheap (just under $60 after tax), but I'll cross that irradiated bridge when I get there.

Putting off on buying the Peter Jackson Kong is one of my biggest regrets ever. Now he starts at $400, if you can find him, and he's usually used. Fire Rodan's another one. He sat at my local anime store for months at $35, then one day he was gone & the online prices skyrocketed.

What the?! Are you serious?! The price of Kong is so high?! I have a spare and unopened too! X)

Nah, not selling him as he’s my 2nd fave kaiju after Goji and King Ghidorah! I learnt the hard way of not having spares.

That version of Kong is really underrated. The sculpt was exceptional and the articulation was pretty good.

Paint job issues were almost non existent too. Only problematic area was the tooth sticking out of his “closed mouth” head.

The only issue it had was difficult in posing on all fours like how a normal gorilla would walk.

I need to dig out my Rodan...the problem with me is that my collection is “all over the place”. Some are are at my place, some at my folks, in-laws!

Tbh I prefer a normal Rodan...I’m puzzled why Bandai didn’t give us one...just a simple repaint...maybe the fire version didn’t sell well?

Wow, if I’d known Rodan would be worth $200ish in the box I’d have never opened the one I got from HLJ for $15. Here I was just buying him for the Mechagodzilla head :lol

I'm more wanting to know why Bandai never bothered doing a Showa Rodan, at least the original 56 version. Then again, Bandai seems to hate the Showa era.
