A poor day at the flea market reminded me of this: overly animated grasping motions. As I've tired of playing toy dealer, I've been gaming the market to clear stuff out faster. One of those games is to buy garbage on clearance and offer it free with purchase. Animated graspers make it look like they're choosing a succulent delicacy to go with their discounted Big Mac.

    My pet peeves:
-People who don't use their turn signals
-People who use the passing lane as the driving lane
-When someone says some variation of "I was itching myself." No, unless you were actively giving yourself an itch, you were scratching yourself.
-Someone saying "on accident" instead of "by accident."
-Someone who says "I seen that." No. You saw that. This is particularly common in my area.

Fireworks...especially those that kids can play with later in the night when everyone is sleeping. There's a side of me that wants them to lose fingers because of it

    I don't get it....

It's just one variation of people who block aisles with their carts. Bad enough when people block just the aisle they're in. But leaving a cart in the front or back of the store while they wander off is even worse.

Okay, I see it now. Let me add that while these people are bad, those that leave their 1-3 year olds in the carts as they walk away about 6 aisles are worse. You want to know how so many child abductions happen? That's how!!

There are two reasons I can think of why people treat alcoholism differently to heroin addiction. Reason 1; booze is legal and 2; its almost as old the written word. Now these aren’t great reasons - DTs can kill you - but there you go.

Also; indicators belong on the outside edge of any light assembly arrangement on a car. The next engineer or designer who proposes putting them anywhere else should be publicly flogged.

Putting this in the "Pet peeves" thread because It's more personally annoyances than truly life sucking imo...Actually, I'm not sure, but that thread is more for the HUGE things, soo....

Everything around me is breaking. Last week, my Wii U gamepad broke (and replaced), a day after that, the hard-to-get-to lights in the hall pop (still need to replace), A few days ago, my laptop is messing up to the point that it won't load beyond the initial startup (The C drive is broken and seems it can't repair itself) and today, my spare chair from after my favorite chair broke decides to break as well..... Did I pee on a grave on accident or something? This is a LOT within that small of a timeframe for me...

Shoes that have no arch support. Why in God's name would you not have arch support in a shoe? How can you be a shoe manufacturer and not realize people have arches, Nike?

People who bump news threads to ask if there are any updates when there clearly aren't any should be banned for however many days since the last post in that thread. Seriously, y'all, just look at the goddamn date of the last post, you think pictures of Siege Astrotrain or Apeface are gonna come out and won't be posted here within ten seconds?

One thing that really annoys me is when people try to show me videos on their phones mid-conversation. For example, one time I was talking with a friend about Star Wars parodies, and I mentioned that I don't particularly care for Robot Chicken-type stuff. He was like, "Oh you'd probably like it if you watched more of it". Then he proceeded to play about 15 minutes of clips (completely out-of-context) on his phone. Didn't I just say I don't find it funny?

If people could do it in moderation, and with short videos, it would be fine. But there's nothing worse than having to sit through someone's 15 minute video, which is probably not as funny as they think it is (especially if it's completely out of context, which it usually is). I know some people don't like being told jokes, because they're afraid they won't get it, and they'll have to fake a laugh. Well, that's the way I feel when people do this. I have to pretend to care about what they're showing me. I don't get why people just can't send a link.

This pet peeve has been building up for some time. I hate it when something I purchase takes forever to finish the transaction. This time is just stupid.

So back on the 5th I ordered a refurbished Zelda Wii U so I can use the gamepad (considering how the pad is $100 and the entire thing was $120) and it's been here since the 8th. I have yet to be charged. PayPal says that GameStop is waiting until they ship it out..... Anyone see what's wrong?

I hate this because I have to do math everytime I check my bank account because I'm scared that I might mess up how much I have and go negative. AND THERE'S NO REASON WHY I SHOULD HAVE THIS FEAR!! I HAVE IT! JUST CHARGE MEEEEEEE!!!!!

The cool thing about being an old fossil like me is that we remember when you had to keep a paper ledger of your checking account so you wouldn't overdraft. It's nifty, and I recommend it. It'll keep you looking at what SHOULD be left not what IS left so you don't overspend.

Also people that stand in front of a store playing music loudly on their phone. Nobody thinks you're cool. Everyone thinks you're a dork. I promise.

    Headphones my good man.

People at the gym who reek badly from smoke or sweat and they come use the treadmill next to you. I usually have to move because I can't breathe.

Working in an environment where I’m managed by someone less knowledgeable/responsible than me.

I’m not talking about qualifications - I can respect a person who is genuinely passionate or willing to learn and grow. But I find a lot of middle management to be useless and question their existence/how they got their position when they don’t know anything, have no plans to improve, but still somehow manage people who are more passionate and care about their jobs and have to do everything for them?

It's the Peter Principle - everyone is promoted to their level of incompetence.

It's a result of a very old fashioned approach to company hierarchy, in which people who are seen to be good at their job are promoted to the next tier of company organisation, even if the required skillset is wildly different; just because you're great at the production side of whatever your company does, doesn't mean you'll be great at managing the production side.

Ideally, you do need people from within the same field (although there will be overlap, managing e.g. software developers won't be quite the same as managing factory workers), but don't just promote them because "they've put in the hours", base it on them showing an aptitude for the relevant promotion.
