You can call it semantics, others would call it facts. Facts are important for keeping information accurate.

No, it doesn't. I see no mention of the term "copyright" in direct relation to the Red Cross symbol. Yes, the Red Cross organization claims a variety of copyrights, but their symbol is not among them.

Which is because a simple "red cross on a white backdrop" cannot be copyrighted, as it doesn't meet the threshold of originality that would be required for copyright law to apply.

Besides, the Red Cross symbol has been in use since at least 1864, so any copyright protection that would have applied would have long expired by now regardless of the country.

That's hardly a given these days I'm afraid.
They're more likely to make a set for him with extra battle damage and cell shaded windows.

Just thinking if Ratchet will be in a Siege packaging or a 35th anniversary packaging.

Ratchet is in The seige main line so will most likely have packaging like the other exclusive sets.

Back during TF:Universe, I only got Prowl out of the Datsun brothers because Smokescreen and 'Silverstreak' were pretty much just repaints - minus the lightbar, of him . I sort of regretted that later.

I didn't mind repaints, but I preferred them to have different heads (I only made exceptions for Optimus/Ultra Magnus and the Seekers), or at least some remolding. I ended up missing out on a few good redecos, simply because I had the earlier version of the figure in question.

Now, though, I intend to get all of the Siege Datsun brothers, including the black sheep of the family, (personal head canon) Barricade.

    Ebay:
One more on Ratchet's cross being just a line, they could have just tampo'd red lines or squares to the outside to make it a futurey red cross, or slap the Autobot Logo in the middle like they've done a few times.

That's what I meant, saves them money not licensing it or paying when they don't license it.

It makes no sense for him to have wheels or doors or a windshield, either.

The whole of Transformers has been predicated on repaints since day zero.

I usually buy the new mold version, but then something like the Seekers were too cool to pass up. Seeing repaints as a team looks cool on a shelf, but I have to be a fan of the mold. Barricade is a definite buy for me. Just cuz he’s frickin Barricade.

I'm just saying attack of the repaints/remolds because so far (in my understanding) seige has not had much repaints/remolds

The first link, which is to the official RC site, includes the term "copyright". It's in the url and description.

Also, it appears that the symbol isn't always seen as a trademark, either, as it falls under protection of the Geneva Convention, or similar International law/agreements.

It does contain the term, but context matters! The full title is "copyright and terms of use". Copyright is one aspect, applying to "all or part of documents, photos, film footage, audio records, logos and graphics".

Again, understanding even the basics of coypright law means understanding that the Red Cross symbol can be protected through several means, but copyright isn't one of them.

No, it states that the logo is copyrighted.

Again, understanding even the basics of English terminology means understanding that the Red Cross symbol can be protected through several means, and copyright is one of them.

However, as already mentioned, it depends upon regions. In India, for example, it's protected under the Geneva Convention and trademark laws (as in India, as has been mentioned, the symbol is too genetic to be protected under copyright) :

    - Can I use the Red Cross Symbol or Logo? When can the Red Cross symbol or logo be used? - Lawgic

In the USA, it is also trademarked:

    *sigh*

    Copyright term - Wikipedia
Emblems of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement - Wikipedia

The Red Cross symbol has been around since at least 1864.

Let's assume Guillaume Henri Dufour is legally considered the creator. Dufour died in 1875. That was 144 years ago. That's more than double the maximum copyright term in most countries!

In other words, even if copyright law applied, any applicable copyright term in whatever part of the world would have long since expired. Basic math. Copyright is not forever, even if Sonny Bono would have wanted otherwise.

And besides, your quote refers to "logos", plural. It does not specifically single out the Red Cross symbol, which is not even a logo! Sure, the words "logo", "emblem" and "symbol" are commonly used as synonoyms in everyday language, but everyday language has a tendency to oftentimes be inaccurate. The page you linked does not use everyday language, so the terms used there might have a different meaning than what you assume they have based on your everyday use. A "logo" is usually a combination of graphics and text. So the Red Cross symbol can be part of a logo, but it isn't a "logo" itself!

On the page you linked, the Red Cross symbol is mentioned separately at the bottom of the page. There would be no need for that if the Red Cross symbol was covered by the term "logos"!

So a few historic repaints/remolds and it's the repaintpocalypse? Glad you don't collect R2 units from the Star Wars lines...

I'm always up to semantics ;)

I’m just glad Bluestreak isn’t cel shaded. Maybe Soundblaster won’t be as well.
