So they gunna straight up ditch the CW combiner feature? Aw, man.

And the Superlink/Energon Gestalts. They need to continue to use CW-style combiners, i really would miss that feature. If Takara will stop making combiners, I hope Hasbro finds a way to use the CW Combiner Feature in some way. I'd even be okay if they used those for Authentics or even Weaponizers, that's how much i will miss that.

    I don't think so.
Pretty sure that just means Takara is done with Combiners.
Hasbro could still do more in the coming years, only they won't have a Takara counterpart.

There’s no quote and there is no context. As is it can be read as:
    No more combiners ever
No more combiners in generations ever
No more combiners in generations selects ever

    Or what is most likely

were gonna take a break from combiners for a bit.

Nothing in that post says that Takara is never doing combiners again

The way I'm taking this is that Takara is done with massive retoolings for exclusive combiner Projects. So I'm still expecting them assisting in Hasbro's combiner scene, as well as possibly general retail repaints.

Don't forget "well, that sold well so we'll release God Neptune as a straight repaint" as an option.

For now, at least. Extensively retooling six individual figures to form a new combiner team isn't a minor project. We should be grateful for that, especially with this whole 'unification' thing going on.

They probably have plenty of other things going on, with the Beast Wars MPs, War for Cybertron, etc.

Knowing Takara, they'd like to do do Dinoking, Liokaiser, Raiden, etc, properly. The CW/UW/POTP Scramble City format isn't suitable for those combiners if you want to do them justice (imo). It might be best to approach them like Devastator and Predaking, each with it's own unique combining method. This is probably not the best time time to experiment with that, though, with all the other stuff going on right now.

Saying that, Hasbro may still give us their Selects version of Monstructor first. We seem to be getting the 'remaining' 'hinted at' POTP figures as exclusives of one sort or another, lately. The mysterious 'black car' turned out to be Ricochet. Four of the five 'Orthia' fembots have been revealed. I'm guessing the last one will be Lancer. We may have a couple of Seeker limbs left as well ('Seeker combiner').

Going by that that logic (and the remolded version of Snarl (Bristleback head guns) and Wildfly head on Cutthroat shown back when POTP debuted) we'll probably be getting a POTP-style Monstructor, as well (assuming the first few figures sell well enough for Hasbro to release the rest). Maybe it'll be Hasbro's answer to the Takara Seacons. (Just speculating, but quite a few of these POTP 'rumours' have been coming true).

Of course, Hasbro may not bother with 'Monstructor' at all, especially if they don't consider it worth the effort. They did scrap POTP fairly early in favour of Siege.

I really want Raiden, Land Cross , and Road Caesar to be done and then Im good with having no more combiners

my 3rd party Liokaiser is sweet and my 3rd party chug Dinoking with Pretender shells are pretty great too

Now if they made those two also I wouldnt be upset and would be nice for people to be able to get a more affordable option but for my household personally, Raiden, Land Cross , and Road Caesar are priorities now once The seaacons with bw2 seacons following come out

To be fair, taking a break would sound rather good. I guess.

Hmmm, Redecos and new General Release molds would also sound nice. Especially if the redecoes use most of the unused heads that some of the molds come with.

Like Armada/Cybertron Demolishor from Onslaught, Cybertron Kuboshi from Rook with the Onslaught head, Speaking of which, how many alt heads most of the combiner molds come with?

Did you forget to switch to your alt there?

But yes, it's not an official announcement or anything. Not that a company would make official announcements about all the things that they aren't making, but still.

This. Takara knows that they still have some key toys that require urgent udates from their vast Japanese G1 catalouge. I seriously doubt that they will totally pass up the chance to make Galaxy Shuttle; Road Ceasar and gang. It would be totally out of character for them.
