Unless you live in a scalper-heavy area like Southern California, where these things tend to never make it to the pegs. I've still never seen the Walmart-exclusive Captain Marvel or Thanos at any of the 5 stores near me, and I check stores pretty much daily.
Okay, I guess then I'll just return them to my closes store as I thought people were still having a hard time finding them.
Pretty much agree here. Any Walmart exclusive can be a pain to find and I have never bought a Walmart exclusive in store. It's either from Walmart's website (which is more luck than skill), eBay at triple the price (which I don't like to do often), or from a collectible shop (namely Cape and Cowls). I know that the Loki/Glaive 2-pack is super scalped here and even Cape and Cowls is having trouble getting one in. Hell, I only got Cap thanks to @Purple Heart. I can find all the Target exclusives no problem and Walgreens are very hit-and-miss (I know of two that sell MLs right off the truck), but Walmart, forget about it. Besides, I lived in West Lafayette for six years and can tell you that Lafayette tends to have exclusives sit on the shelves for a while mainly because the collector community there is small and poor (because it's usually based out of Purdue and college kids got tuition to worry about for basically forever).
Sell em if you can, but if they're saturating, you're not going to get much over cost. I learned my lesson buying "hard to find" exclusives back in the TF animated days with Rodimus. Bought an extra 2 to sell so locals for some mark up and they exploded in all of the stores around. I had them for years before I could get rid of them.
Well I just saw this thread with a little confusion then I thought "oh wait, we should support our other hasbro figure mates. Personally, I just hope that ML makes a riot figure from the venom movie!
Yeah, your only real chance at any of these in SoCal is if you either go to a Walmart that's way out of the way from any decently-sized populated city, or if you're one of those guys who does this for a "living" and pays off employees to let you know when stuff comes in so you can sell it at Frank & Son. Cape & Cowl is one of the few comic/collectible shops I've encountered that doesn't actively try to gouge on action figures. I've only seen them substantially markup figures that were legitimately scarce, but most of their figures are reasonably priced, even though their eBay store.
I do know of one person who does go around searching for this stuff for a living. Weird guy, but he finds some pretty rare stuff sometimes. I live near two regular Walmarts (one sucks, the other sucks slightly less) but like all four Supercenters around me are like 30 minutes away (if I'm lucky with traffic). I don't mind the 45 minute drive to Cape and Cowls because I know he has stuff and he helps me out with finding things, but to drive for 30 minutes only to likely discover nothing? Naw. Especially because to check them all, they're 10 to 15 minutes from each other so it's basically half the day. I guess what's worse is going to Frank and Son's only to discover they don't even have the exclusive you want. That sucks too.
They've hit Texas. Theres five at my WM. If you have the chance, inspect every one of them. The helmet positions are pretty bad. The one I got in a trade is slightly crooked but, these were pretty bad. White paint Is bad on all of them.
It's no Thing or Silver Surfer, but I did score a Netflix Elektra at Walgreens today so that's pretty cool.
QC things to look for: - The alignment of the helmet on the head, as Scourgatron said - The silver paint on the star - The silver paint on the A, because now there's raised plastic it has to match up to. (Not sure if this is true of the MS10) - The silver paint in the belt buckle. Basically, if it's silver it might be misaligned. Brown is a distant second.
I'm starting to hate Walgreens exclusives, they get so some after characters and aren't always easy to find
First off, Deaths Head II is an EXTREMELY underrated Marvel Legends figure. Second off, is there a reason he has the same gun arm as Revenge of the Fallen Megatron? Perhaps a shout out to his origin in the 1980's Transformers Comics?
Don’t have Wal-Mart in NZ, only exclusives I’ve seen are the odd TRU overstock that ends up here... but started ordering online to get the FF. Started a bad trend. You’d think they would have made the Captain uniform by now. With Mjolnir even.
I was gonna do a photo of this guy and the ROTF Megatron to show off how they have similar arms, but forgot. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the similarities though.
