Wow. I'm shocked they're trying to continue with business as usual. I'd really like to try whatever it seems their investors are smoking.

Trying to get into television was a huge mistake on IDW'S part. I mean, I get why they did it, but it was still a huge mistake.

I have never seen anything other than comics from IDW. Whatever else they do, they should stop that. And I'd rather have the new UK classics volume than the current transformers books. I'd really like to know how the story continues.

    Edit:
I just went and looked what they do. Apparently they have only 4 shows, but Dirk Gently is by them and I love that show. It's actually more like Doctor Who than Doctor Who from the feel of it.

    Edit2:
OH no, Dirk Gently will not have a season 3 :(  wtf

That was the entire point of going into business, though. Their goal was never to create comics for comics' sake. Their goal was to develop properties that could be exploited in other mediums.

More than anything else, I don't want to lose IDW's fantastic archival reprints of comic strips and their amazing Artist Edition reproductions of original comic pages. That stuff has actual cultural importance.

    Agreed.

IDW is reprinting a bunch of stuff right now that I love. I wish they'd stop playing with other people's money.

They've got two more volumes of Corto Maltese to publish, one of which has never yet been released in English. It should be out by early 2020. I need them to finish that. I've been waiting decades, since NBM failed to finish releasing the series back in the early 1990s.

For real though, if IDW closes shop before publishing Corto Maltese: Mu, I'm going to go beast mode.

Happening a lot quicker than I anticipated. I thought they would've lasted another year. Scratch that, I was HOPING they'd last another year.

One question I have for those in the know. How does this impact the infusion of investor money that just happened? Could someone potentially face legal troubles? I can't imagine how the managed to raise that much cash if they were also looking to sell.

Disney already owns a comic company. IDW would have to own some valuable IPs, which I don't think they do.

Aren't they already outsourcing some of their projects to IDW, since Marvel's 'talent' is pretty bad at this point?

What's this loss in terms of per share? How fast they're bleeding overall will determine their course of action, not how much blood they leave on the table.

If nobody picks them up that's it for TMNT, Ghostbusters, Hasbro's entire library of characters, Sonic the Hedgehog (again) and any number of other comic titles they've been publishing. I think the Media thing was a bad idea all around, especially if that's the reason why it seemed IDW was always behind in their publications by a month or so.

Most of the larger licensed IPs would probably get picked up by other companies. Especially the most popular ones. TMNT, Star Trek, and Transformers would easily be snatched up. Ghostbusters probably doesn't have to worry. Some of the smaller Hasbro things like MASK, ROM & Micronaughts are probably screwed though. Back to the grave for you!! I personally would be worried about GIJoe: ARAH since the Marvel continuation is my favorite book and would most likely be dead. If some other company picked the brand up, they'd probably start their own continuity.
