I'm guessing it may be easier and cheaper for them to produce cel window stickers than other stickers. They don't have to design as much, just cut different shapes.

Alright, they've jumped the shark and they're embracing it.

Cel-shaded windows as a gimmick is neat...to a point. When it's the main focus of the entire month's listings and the REAL ones are relegated to 2-3 releases in a given month, it's clear they've become either creatively bankrupt, bored, both or they're throwing in the towel.

Couple that with the fact that these sets are generally pretty expensive and they don't stick well over time to the point of needing "Sticker Fixer" it's clear they're not in it for the love of it anymore, just the money and the customer be damned.

I'm not cool with that. With prices as they are, sets of importance drying up, gimmicks and quality dropping, I think I'm done with Reprolabels/Toyhax. I miss the days when they were high quality vinyl and those that weren't were rock solid. I bought a set for G1 Bruticus, years ago, and it was still holding when I sold the set. PRID Smokescreen? Peeling everywhere. It reminds me of a bad Hasbro set. Shouldn't feel like that with a 3rd party who's only real offering is stickers that are supposed to fix Hasbro's blemishes.

    Yeah, I'm out.

Yeah, the honeycomb stuff went overboard after it worked well for the WFC/FOC figures, and now the cel-shaded windows, which work well for the current Floro Dery-ized style of MP, are getting slapped onto everything.

They've been creatively bankrupt for a while now.
But it's getting more obvious every month.
They're like a recreation of the entire entertainment industry on a small scale:
All they do is produce boring crap while talking about it like it's the second coming and stubbornly refusing to produce things that deviate from the endless stream of productions that are all rigidly designed to structly adhere to their stubbornly held obsessions.

I'm torn between getting the set for Laserbeak or just using the MP cassettes with Siege Soundwave. Toyhax has made Laserbeak look prety good with his Earth face and that new thruster part. I'm not sure there's much they can do for that odd-looking Ravage, though.

EDIT: Extra thought: I've never had any interest in the cel-shaded windows myself, but I was definitely disappointed when they couldn't resist the urge to cel-shade the optics sticker on their Siege Soundwave set, as in it went from "automatic buy for the red eyes" to "Well, no reason to get this now."

The Cell shaded onslaught is awesome. Just need XTB Aegis and Tak Sunstreaker now and all my cars can get the treatment :)

All this cell shaded crap, and we still haven't gotten a set for TR Frenzy from that Bumblebee Movie 4 Pack. Sigh.

OK guys, the cel shading windows are cute and all, but I was hoping to see some sets for MMC Azelia, XTB's Stunticons, and MS Light of Freedom.

Also, I'm still waiting on sets for older figures:
    - KFC Kingzilla - Your Apeface set was great so bring it on!
    - DX9 Gabriel - You did sets for Terminus Giganticus and Huge Dragon, why no love for Gabe?
    - XTB Pean + Aiegis- Especially Pean. He's the best MP Hoist out there.

Anyway still a big fan of your stuff, and keep up the good work.

I digging the cell shaded stuff since translucent windows on some figures were clearly the wrong call thanks to the internal views. I hope they get to revisiting the Trailbreakers and hoists soon.

Is there something wrong with the Toyhax website right now? The pages aren't loading but timing out instead.

I like the cell-shading on my Siege Soundwave and Shockwave. I dunno why its such a big issue, don't buy it if you don't like it.

I'll probably get that Ricochet set, at least when I finally ship mine from BBTS.

I really dig the cell-shaded look. Putting them on MP-10 nearly "completed" my Masterpiece Optimus outside of switching his translucent yellow crotch bits to opaque yellow. In fact, I hope they release an addendum set to give Siege Starscream a cell-shaded cockpit/faux cockpit.

Geez, you guys are harsh. They made cel shaded windows, you don't like them, don't buy them. I think they look cool. Wonder if they plan on any Legends packs. I've painted my MS grapple and inferno windows blue, but cell shaded would be nicer. MS Prime, trailbreaker and Sideswipe could use it too. Though I wonder how well well see adhere to their flexible plastic, my symbols don't hold well in general.

The cel-shaded stuff has never been for me and that's fine, but the glaring absence of simple black stickers to cover the white squares of plastic on Ricochet is... sort of baffling. If it was a genuine overlook, it certainly says a lot about the lack of care put into the set. It almost seems like whoever designed the stickers never bothered to actually look at the toy and just used Jazz and the label sheet made for him as a reference, so they never saw the obvious (and easily fixable) deco blemish.

It's this seeming lack of care that's driven me away from Toyhax the most. I consider their Combiner Wars sets (especially some of the conversion sets) to be the absolute peak of design quality and sheer creativity, but it's painfully clear that whoever was spearheading that effort either completely lost interest, is no longer with the company, or was instructed by whoever's above them to shift away from new, interesting ideas and back towards bland, slavishly G1 details.

Hell, even stuff that would normally catch my eye like the IDW miner set for Siege Megatron does little more than slap some caution stripes on him and call it a day. Were it made under the standards of past sticker sheets, I would expect it to have labels to convert his sword and cannon into a mining tool, a label for the prototype Decepticon insignia, or even something as silly as a small accessory sticker to represent his treatise. Those cool references and inspired ideas were what made me really enjoy the sets, and made them feel less like they completed a toy, but transcended the toy.

I've mostly accepted by now that, for whatever reason, those days are just in the past, but it is frustrating to still see slight glimmers of that old creative spark in stuff like the Siege Autotrooper, but even it feels like much less effort was put into it than past conversion labels.

    'Tis a shame, but alas.

Agreed on this. Something happened in the management. It’s a bit disappointing.

It's a big issue because it's steadily taken over each newsletter release. A few here and there and then the entire listing, much like this one. It's like the holo labels for POTP. People rightfully complained and they finally listened and dropped forcing people to buy just them and letting them override the entire product line. This might be worse...because they're not even trying to come up with good sets at this point.

We're harsh because we have waited years and years for them to do sets the proper way, we don't want to have to buy sticker fixer to fix their product that's supposed to be worth the money they're asking and the very least they could do is make sets for current and relevant figures like the aforementioned Target exclusive Frumble figure. Instead, they make one or two unique sets and milk the gimmick end of things like a farmer with ten hands in a dairy barn. It's gotten ridiculous.

I'd like sets for MPMs and other third party toys like Nitrogen Ares, Peru Kill, and Dream Factory Bonecrusher. Except most are so well done they may not need stickers...

I would love it if they would start doing vintage G2 sets so I could start to refurbish some of my old childhood toys.

I have zero interest in the cell shaded windows and i don't buy enough 3rd party figures to care about those and when I do I don't feel they need them.

Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out!

Yes, cell shaded windows for my magic square Optimus!
One thing is, with hasbro putting more paint on their figures they don’t need the new stickers like they used to.
