Honestly from what I can see, all 3 do look like great standalones yeah. I just have to limit myself to what I buy, so I'm prioritizing lol. I'm thinking of picking up 2-3 of the voyagers, but I'm waiting to see which are the best ones. Long haul is certainly grabbing my interest.

If you don't mind, can you do a size comparison between him and either ss38 or SS brawl? Just curious to see how he stacks up in terms of size.

(If push comes to shove, I might have to sell some stuff to go all in on devy. I originally didn't want to do this, but this set is shaping up to be one of the best things I've seen in a long time)

 

Once all these are released, I think you should get Longhaul, Rampage, Mixmaster, Demolisher... basically all of them

Just got mine in. Ohhh man I love this guy. Definitely a hell of a lot better than the ROTF one.

EDIT: Alt mode comparison pics added too. Robot mode is taller but the 2009 alt mode isn't actually that much bigger than the Studio Series.

 

Totally agree. The only people who seem to think different are people who don't actually own the new one.

And I only really think the old one is taller because of all the (inaccurately placed) kibble on top of his head.

 

That, and the too-long/lanky legs.

 

Once i saw a photo of the rotf with the legs angled at the knees where he wss shorter but less lanky, i think it was on photobucket so the photo is lost forever, also ways to lower his kibble, could someone do that and then put it next to the ss to see how they look together when the rotf is not looking masivelly taller? Since the ss cannont get taller then get the rotf to be shorter should do the trick

 

Maybe possible with a modded RotF Long Haul? Otherwise, the toy really doesn't do either of those things.

 

I really dont remember, since so many older photos of the original rotf longaul are not available anymore... Or posts or blogs.. But i guess probably it would need some sanding

Are his hands 5mm-compatible? He would look awesome wielding some heavy weaponry other than his molded missiles.

From what I can see from pictures, he's definitely closer to the on-screen design than the old Voyager and I really dig that. Knees don't really look that great to me and I wish the foot mode connection would be interchangeable with Rampage's, but those aren't dealbreakers. Will definitely pick up two or three for army-building.

 

It wouldn't matter, because the issues is not so much the length of the legs but the thickness, as well as the tiny torso and misplaced kibble. Also, the rotf voyager has TWO hinges for the leg wheels, and yet they STILL end up way lower down than they should. Weird.

Yep! Although you can't curl the fingers he still has 5mm slots in the hands. It's how you lock in the hands for vehicle mode, actually.

They're good knees considering how bulky he is, which is why I posted those pics of extreme poses. Full 90 degree bend AND a swivel. Did you see my pics where he's basically doing an iron man pose?

 

Ah, I don't know how to adequately describe it but I'm not fond of this design choice for the knees

where the knee joint is at the edge like that and leaves a flat shelf when it bends. He is THICC, so I think I get why it has to be like that and the tradeoff is definitely worth it, but it just annoys me a bit.

 

What i meant is, to try to get both as close to the same size head to head as possible... And is easier to collapse somehow (,modding aparently) rotf knees to sit lower, because getring the ss to be taller has already been stated is not possible

 

Ah, well if that’s an issue for you then I get it. It’s not super noticeable to me but then again I think I’m just super appreciative that they managed to get such a chunky figure to be so posable.

 

Isn't it like, a completely different truck and the 09 voyager is the actual screen accurate vehicle mode?

Anyways, this guy does look good. I think I like aspects of the original voyager more and other aspects of this one more, so if they could combine the two together he'd be perfect. Can't wait to get him though, really really looking forward to completing the set.

 

No, the 09 voyager, like most movie bots before SS, was based on concept art. The actual truck that combines with Devastator is the one this figure transforms into. This figure is more accurate in almost every way over the original, even though the original had a really badass truck mode that I liked a lot.

 

Huh, go figure, I genuinely thought that they ended up with a more generic truck for this version while the RotF voyager was the actual screen accurate one. Funny that, lol. I do think I still prefer the less screen accurate truck then, and the transformation (or at least aspects of it, particularly in areas the SS kinda fakes the parts that are actually used on the original). Definitely looking forward to this guy still, I feel like a mashup of the two would have been the perfect version, but alas.

 

Oh shit!     I really want this figure even more now.
