Expanding the line benefits everyone, I would like to see all fans get the best versions of the characters they love! I could really live without the coronation gear. Honestly it's been done before and honestly I never cared for it. Never used it once. Combaticon components are far more interesting to me! And dare I say is a precursor to potentially seeing combiners. I guess the show to watch will be this upcoming Wonderfest for more details.  

 

Give him a "Megatron, is that you??" face, spare pair of ash-grey disembodied feet and a crushed crown accessory, post-coronation, to go with Galvatron and be done with it!

As for the reveal of Lio Convoy: even if I'm a big BW fan, I have no connection to him as I only saw the original BW and never BWII, nor do I especially have any interest in it, though it's cool. Planning to pass on this one, and my wallet thanks me, considering FREEing dropped the preorder for the 1/4 scale Zero Two a few days ago...

 

I own all the post MP-10 figures except MP-38 and Shadowpanther because I’ve never seen Beast Wars and I’m not that into it so I avoided the repaints.

I’m a huge Takara fan and I love the G1 toon direction they’ve taken lately.

Having said that my first reaction to Lio Convoy is WOW that’s REALLY toon! Possibly too toon! It’s a very different animation style to G1 I assume. It’s very stylized and colourful. That lion face is ridiculously cute which is confusing me. I showed it to my young kids and they both went “Awwww!! So cute!!”. Not the reaction I would expect of a Convoy figure...... I do like the fact that the cute lion face is replaced for bot mode.

It looks like a decent figure but I’m definitely concerned about them branching further into yet another continuity. Especially because of all the V2 and V3’s of existing MP characters. I don’t mind the new versions as long as we are still getting new characters that have not received a V1 yet.

 

It almost makes one wonder - does Takara LIKE all the third parties getting in on all the G1 action???

 

They know most will part or replace their 3rd party TF's for TT MP figures given the opportunity.

 

Key factor here - they aren’t giving us that opportunity.

 

When MP Terrorsaur rolls around, it will be interesting to see if he is redecoed as Lazorbeak or Hydra. Given Lio Convoy (and even though he's II not Neo), I'm more inclined to think it would be Hydra now.

 

If they would announce new molds at Wonderfest, probably will be the rumoured Galvatron and Starscream v3 (or at least one of them)

Like I said before, I don't have interest in any of them, so I hope the hypothetical reveal (or reveals) could be a new carbot (Jazz, Mirage, Trailbreaker, etc)

I actually like the look of Leo-Convoy, that anime face... Still, won't do BW related, and am happy to have some relief with OP v3, BB v2 and Hound in the pipeline... And Dairugger XV and Snake Mountain as well.

Thought about this too, but I think Hydra was closer to size and design to the original basic figure, right? Might end up being way too tall. Can't really tell though... Not too many pics comparing his anime models size.

 

Exactly, yeah. Lio looks to have been designed to scale with Primal, but Primal isn't exactly a towering leader as is traditionally seen.

 

This definitely seems to hint at the possibility of them completing the trio with Big Convoy~
