Maybe they thought people would be happy with that godawful Titans Return version? In general, Reformatted seems to have slowed down since the original IDW-verse ended. Their Bulkhead repaint of Dicamus also disappeared, and that one we've seen in toy form whereas Getaway was only a comic repaint (At least I think he showed up in there). I'm hoping this is just a lull in production, if I had to guess it's just MMC working on their huge backlog of figures. Speaking of, I'm hoping to see the bigger DJD members sooner than later.
Or perhaps ..... people want new moulds .... but they cost money. I for one am sick of MMC's practice of making a mould so flexible that it can be anyone. What is this? The Clone Wars?
I think MMC probably did consider the possibility of turning Calidus into a Getaway, but the backlash at heavy mould reuse, made them reconsider. Likely the same happened with Bulkhead. Personally, I never liked the IDW Getaway design, but then I have always loved the G1 toy: to me the last best Autobot design from G1 and a clear favourite for best post-movie Autobot design. But I also can list quite a few other IDW characters that I would want MMC to do first, like Fort Max, Scorponok, Nightbeat, Rung, Blaster/Perceptor….
I'm still using that Movie Cybertron Hot Shot repaint as Gateway, while TR Gateway has been Reprolabeled into Goshooter.
I was under the distinct impression he had been on the way as a retool of Calidus - pretty much an identical alt-mode - but I think @Max Rawhide is right and he got cancelled. Pretty dumb move considering he'd be an easier sell than some of their upcoming projects.
Same reason why they did the condors first. Same reason why they haven't done the Autobot tapes yet. Same reason why they aren't doing that Fort Max. Same reason why they haven't dropped there big DJD members. Same reason why they haven't done a Prime or Swerve yet. Same reason why they hate new molds.
