I noticed a lack of these recently, a year or two and I wanted some other opinions, 3P has become MP centric with the one-off make toys stuff and legends, some legends do work but most don't.

Will we ever see more 3P chugs?

I'm going with no. Between what we got from Takara and Hasbro over the last 10 years, there's not a whole lot missing. And the items that are, we are still slowly getting, like a big Jetfire and Omega Supreme (now bring on Scorponok). MP is where it's at for most people with the legends scale probably a close second. The only kinda CHUG stuff I still want are continued MMC DJD figures.

Not with Hasbro's current offerings. By the end of this trilogy I expect we'll have seen damn near every original character in some manner of new release.

Yes I would like some, but is there a market for it ... probably not?

I think it is sort of a bummer that if you are really into strict g1 toon aesthetic your best options are only MP and 3rd party Legends ... yet CHUG is the one that has been going full force the longest.

I would love super-toon accurate characters in CHUG scale we dont have yet. Hasbro has covered most of the characters, but sometime the bot mode looks good, but the alt-mode is off, or vice versa. Or both modes look good, but it’s is a non-traditional Headmaster, or they are not in proper scale.

Some of the third party Legends looks spot on in both modes, and I wish they were blown up to deluxe or voyager scale.

I remember when Classics started out and were modernized G1 without the MP quality. It was great and I wanted more, but then it slowly started to go all over the place and never stuck with that simple premise.

I still have some of my Classics, the seekers, Hot Rod, Prime, Bumblebee. I dropped some of the other Classics as they either weren't revisions of the G1 version or they had some kind of design flaw that I didn't like.

I've bought most of Titans Return because they were Classics of older G1 figures finally remade, and I'll keep buying anything with the CHUG aesthetic.

I'd like more classics scaled Minibots like the rest of the Throttlebots to go with Hasbro Chase/Roadburn and the 3rd party Hot Soldiers Goldbug. Otherwise I've been actually slowly phasing out the 3rd party figures in my display with each new wave from Hasbro/Takara, I feel they will get around to updating almost every G1 toy. Now I also wouldn't mind seeing some oddball one off characters from the cartoon, like the Blue Lobster Autobot X (Autobot Spike) or the failed EX Factory Gladiator (G1 Centurion Droid).

I feel we are missing some key figures in this scale.

    • F-14 seekers and Conheads in voyager scale.
    • Vannette Ironhide and Rathchet in voyager scale.
    • Trailbreaker in Voyager scale.
    • Blitzwing/Astrotrain that are non-Headmasters in voyager earth modes.
    • Leader size non-combiner Dinobots.

I feel Hasbro will never complete this above list.

The problem with 3p chug (IMO) is cost. A deluxe for the price of a voyager is hard to swallow. But I guess legends are pretty pricey in that regard too

    edit: spelling is fun

I miss the Ol' days of 3rd party Chug especially the combiner sets. I totally understand the whole new combiner scale and it makes sense but just the days of almost every week we would see a new 3rd party combiner reveal/team member.

The thing is that if done right third party chug will not have any competition from Hasbro.
My MFT Huffer and Pipes nor my Fansproject Quickswitch or my Toyworld Dinobots or Titanium Saint Alpha Trion never will be threatened by anything Hasbro produces.
But when third parties choose to do a half assed job like some of FP's and Maketoys shittier products, because "nobody buys chug anymore anyway" obviously people are going to wait for Hasbro to do better.
And sometimes all it takes is to take an existing MP design, simplify it and downsize it. Or take a good legends scale design and upsize it to Prime Wars deluxe or voyager size.
Loads of people bought MPV-10 and are very happy with him, but apparently the money is in a very simple legends scale Bumblebee upsized to MP scale???!!!
There are also tons of figures Hasbro very clearly botched. CW Brawl and potp Hun-Gurr would be eagerly replaced by many if Toyworld for example made better versions. But they seemed to think we need leader sized Motormasters and Onslaughts.
    Which also never materialized.

Yes, I would like to buy more CHUG 3rd party figures. I don't know how the market is anymore, but yes. Sometimes Hasbro just can't get it right. *looks at Impactor* So others should come in and help remedy that.

    Maybe, So?

Absolutely. There were voids that weren't quite filled over the classics years, or they were as Uni 2.0 Ironhide and thrilling 30 Trailbreaker. IE: too small. And now, with Hasbro's new direction, it's worse.

Been wanting voyager versions of a few of these guys, including voyager F15 seekers. Or, as mentioned, voyager Blitzwing and Astrotrain figures that aren't hindered by gimmicks. This just isn't likely these days, but if done right, I'd buy into them.
