LioConvoy is probably my favorite TF design of all time. This looks amazing! The robot mode looks spectacular. And the beast mode is fully toon! Adorbs. I'm curious if we'll get a reverse Primal. The first version fully II accurate, and then a later repaint with a more detailed faux-CG (call it toy accurate) look. This is the first time I would straight up be willing to buy both, I think.

It's interesting to see how devoted TT are to screen accuracy. It means LC won't fit all that well with most of the BWMP's released so far, really just toy/II Primal.

Bought. 100% bought. I'm putting him on his own shelf with his original toys (I have tracked down both the OG colors and the Flash recolor over the years) and I'm going to marvel at the sheer beauty of the thing.

You're aware that the G1 cast isn't entirely up to Takara, right? Licensing rights for vehicle licenses takes time, and potentially a WHOLE LOT of money. Are you willing to pay $500 USD for MP Jazz because Porsche just won't part with the licensing rights for any less? And what if Porsche just doesn't want to give them the license in any event? None of that is up to Takara alone.

Now, this next comment isn't directed at the poster I quoted, but a general vibe. There is this attitude in the fandom that seems to think Takara is out to get you. To deprive you of what you deserve and keep you on a hook forever. Takara just wants your money, man. They'll make whatever they think they can sell. If a character hasn't been made yet, it's either because they don't think there is a market for them, or because it's too expensive and prices itself out of what they perceive to be the market.

 

Well he was a cartoon Lion as opposed to the cgi Primal that had a more realistic beast mode


Since it's takara though watch them release a more realistic beast head remold down the line so people buy it again. A toy based version of the figure if you will

I'm probably just going to re-buy the original because it's got all sorts of nostalgia for me (back of toyfair magazine before eBay was really a thing) and because that lion mode looks like some sort of My Little Pony night terror. Also, the lion mode looked cool in the cartoon...this looks nothing like that. The lack of textured fur really kills it for me (probably my number one complaint about Takara's MPs), but I ain't going to lie the robot mode is gorgeous.

 

Which is exactly why I'll be waiting on this one.

This is without a doubt an unexpected reveal but not an welcomed one.   If this means we'll be seeing MP figures from both BW II and BW Neo then I'm in.

Obviously, there's going to be issues with licensing. That's a given. So lets see if they finish either the Maximals or Predacons from BW. I really hope they prove me wrong.

And while I wouldn't say Takara is 'out to get anyone', they are definitely interested in keeping buyers on a hook. That, sadly, is good business sense for them and I understand it, but as a long-time buyer it's become exhausting. Again, I have no issue with the later TF lines being covered (because I know there's a contingent of fans here who cry murder when it's not G1 only), I'd just like one single group to be finished, and I don't think that's unreasonable at all. Lots of other lines get way closer.

Yeah, I'm aware...I like the original better. I like the PE one, but it's supposedly pretty fragile and has loose joints. For non-transmetals, it's textured fur or nothing when it comes to beast wars mammals and my collection, I just think it looks bad when they skip that. I get that they're going for cartoon-accuracy, I'm just more of a Hasui-era fan of MPs in that I want an idealized version of the character in robot mode with a realistic alt mode because that's how they hooked me into the line. At least the MP has a gorgeous robot mode, but the alt mode is frustrating to say the least.

 

I know how you feel, it's nice to compete a set. However TT never promised to finish anything....it's possible they never will. As frustrated as you might be you only have yourself to blame for assuming they would meet your needs when they made no commitment to do so.

Personally I find it best just to be thankful for what you've got so far... One day it could all just stop so enjoy it while you can.

Precisely. My sentiments exactly.

 

They stated many times they intended to complete the Autobot line-up, so twist it how you want - that's a deeply implied commitment (legal issues, licensing etc. withstanding). And this is before they revamped the entire aesthetic of the cast.

And realistically, at this point, they are never going to.

 

Hopefully they will include a 3rd face as the 2 beast mode faces he has - one is to cutesy and the other is two robotic - I want one that looks like a proper lion and not a cartoon so much.

 

Being dismissive and haughty isn't going to get you anywhere. Block me if you must, and you probably already have, but just remember, your reaction to me, as much as you probably think I'm being the irrational troll, has only validated my position. G1 shouldn't be kept on a pedestal, and while I understand the desire for a "complete" collection, I don't think it's unreasonable to, I don't know, space things out and let other branches of the franchise get some of the spotlight shined on them?
