Oh I would have preferred a more Binaltech-Hound style solution for sure. An extra panel line means nothing to me. But assuming the tolerances are ok, I don’t care that much about what they decided to do. You know what would have been cool? A panel with the head mounted on one side, the fills in a cut out in the hood. It could flip around 180 for transformation.

I think it could’ve been avoided if the hood had a panel that could flip up in the middle and it had the rest of a neck that the head could rest down and make it look complete.

 

Even just a small flip up square with a tab on it to lock the neck on

 

Something, anything.. would be better than the nothing it currently has. It's wierd how alt-mode seems to be taking priority over robot mode with recent G1 MPs, and quite the opposite with BW MPs.

I'm sure that it can be pushed flush though, if anything I'd be worried of it rubbing the insignia. I think a flip out panel on the insignia like the one old Bumblebee and Tracks have with a tab on the other side would've been the optimal way of doing it

Fascinating. Bit annoying but fascinating.

 

Hound looks like he's had some plastic surgery done. And it went... not so well.

 

There's no tab or slot on the Jeep hood that the neck can plug into, likely to preserve the alt mode's panel lines. I've been wondering if there's die cast in the hood and a magnet in the bottom of Hound's neck that would create a reasonably solid connection once they're in contact.

 

I'd be very impressed if there were but it's not something we've ever seen before in the MP line (or Transformers as a whole?) so it seems unlikely.

 

Im guessing once the launcher is locked in to the armature the head isn't going anywhere, and the head will sit down far enough it shouldn't be a problem.

 

Has anyone figured out what happens to the gun in the car mode? It looks detachable almost.

You mean the gun mounted in the back of the Jeep, and what happens to it in robot mode?

It is detachable, as shown in the accessories photo, though the product description says it can stay attached during transformation. Some have speculated that it folds up and becomes the missile launcher on his shoulder. Or it could fold up and store inside his leg or upper body. Wherever it ends up, it definitely does fold up for storage.

Not allegedly, the magnets were confirmed by Takara-Tomy in a magazine feature about MP-44.

 

I noticed the same thing. I'm very excited about Hound because it's proving to be different from what we know. As long as he doesn't have Thrust's QC, I sure he'll turn out fine.

 

God, that head armature thing is starting to look worse by most vantage points. At first, thought it was nothing but now starting to regret selling Willis. Damn. Disappointment. Overtaking me.
