Well. It looks good. But I have to agree with others... More stuff to keep the g1 bots from being finished. I wish 3p companies would hurry up and finish up the cast cuz takara apparently doesn't want my money any more.

Yeah, not sure how I feel about all that flat white. I'll wait the full prod shoot though, the lion mode looks like a sterile render.

They outpriced me AND uninterested me out of the Masterpiece line in around a single year's time. Nice.

I have no connections to the Japanese versions of Beast Wars any more than the later G1 shows like Victory or Zone for when they gave us Star Saber.
Happy for those that wanted stuff like this in the Masterpiece line, but I think this shows if anyone believed we'd see all the G1 characters from seasons 1,2, and 3 completed...it's not gonna happen. Probably no MP Jazz, Mirage, Trailbreaker, Cliffjumper... Always a possibility, but not very likely.

 

I thought I preferred Lionitis, but seeing them side by side, Lio takes it with his clean lines and more vibrant colors.
Lionitis looks really good in close-ups, but too busy with all the tech detailing from a short distance away. Plus he has saggy pecs. Dude needs to hit the gym.

This is the one time they should trash the concept of screen accurate designs.  Even the animated series had a teddy bear look to Lio Convoy in beast mode.  Pretty lame if you ask me.  Something about this fig seems off though aside from the Care Bear/Teddy Bear beast mode.

 

As if we needed any more proof after MP-43 Megs' voicebox that Takara isn't consulting the Western version of the Beast Wars franchise at all. Across the ocean, a lot of us have no attachment to Lio Convoy's anime aesthetic, and would have rather seen someone like Wazzzzpinator or Rhinox. Again, Japanese fans are probably over the moon though, unless they also were hoping for a more realistic aesthetic.

It's a shame that they went for the overly cartoony look with this figure, an Optimus Prime that turns into a lion is a very cool idea (cooler than Primal's gorilla form) and a realistic aesthetic like the other BW Masterpieces would make him fit better alongside the others. I assume he'd be a good counterpart to the anime redeco version of Primal, though.

Unexpected, but welcome surprise 
I'll add LioConvoy to my purchase list, but I hope the price is closer to Optimus Primal than the newer MPs.

 

Apparently, it's because Autobots always sell better and this is compounded by villains not really selling in Japan.

 

Looks okay for what it is, but have zero connection to the character. And at the prices MPs are going for nowadays, not willing to dip on a character like that.

Grow up. Unlike 3rd parties that don’t give two shits about IP theft, hasbro and takara have to pay for the licensing of the cars that were used 35 years ago and some of those companies 1. Say no or 2. Want a very large amount of money to license their car models. It took a decade for VW to finally cave and allow takara and hasbro to license the beetle to make bumblebee.

 

Now if we get BW2 Galvatron I think my life will be complete.
