If I were to buy this it would be for completion sake only. I’ll be honest though . I have 0 attachment to this version of Convoy . Never watched the series , nor cared for the look. The plus side is Takara is just sucking in the fandom from every direction with the MP line . At this point , unless your blind , it’s clear what there doing . Spread the love TT . Spread the love .

 

Expect the unexpected when it comes to Takara churning any random new MP figures..

Yeah, after another look at the lion mode, the original is a vastly superior toy. Even the small RM version might be better (certainly size-wise given the alt mode and relation to G1 characters).

But toon accurate or not, this lion mode is awful.

Dang, TT is on a roll this year! I'm not familiar with Lio Convoy, but I'm pumped for his fans getting an MP figure!

This guy is getting bought as soon as I can, love the original mold and this mp figure has seemingly taken that mold and taken it from a solid 9 to an 11 easily!

 

I\'m glad this will satiate some fans, but I can\'t believe TT picked this character when there is so many other mainline figures that have been in demand for years. Further more the alt lion mode is meh IMHO. I guess it does build hope for some more obscure characters

This is about as "mainline" as you can get for the Japanese fandom. He was the Maximal leader for an entire Japanese-only animated series, so it makes perfect sense that they would make him.

 

Soo TT has made most of the major Autobot/ Cybertron Japanese toon MPs from the pre Armada/Cybertron timeline:
1. MP44 Convoy Anime version 3.0
2. MP 24 Star Saber
3. MP32 Beast Convoy aka Optimus Primal
4. MP48 Lio Convoy from Beast Wars II
5. MP09 Rodimus Convoy
6. Plus a huge non MP in Legends Fotress Maximus.

Whose next? MP Star Convoy? That's why TT offering of Hasbro Selects Star Convoy was a watered down version of the character..lol. speculation...
Next MP cant be another Beast Wars related Leader like Big Convoy. Too soon.

Big Convoy When Takara?

 

Surprised and I am tempted. The robot mode looks great but the beast mode is kinda eh. I get that they are trying anime accurate but it does not seem to be working. Need more pic

 

This gives me hope that one day we can get Armada MPs. That was my my childhood, and I’d do anything to see it get the MP treatment.

 

You clearly dont know much about how important Japanese Beast Wars was to the Japanese fandom, do you? Not everything revolves only around the US made G1 season.. :
