I hope there are better pictures of this. It seems even 3P and MP versions of this character haven't really improvec upon the original toy...

Good god yes. What a surprise, totally out of left field when everyone was expecting Tigatron. I am all over this. Hopefully it comes in at sub $200.

 

Not a fan of all these BW stuff. So just passing it but it looks very good and I am happy it makes you all happy!

To think I was this worried that we’d get some fancy new reveal of a fucking Starscream 3.0 this shows up. Of all things in the fucking world I’d never expect Lio Convoy, of all characters would be the Masterpiece figure release directly after a bloody Hound figure. They’re doing it! They’re making BWII MP figures! I’d have though it would take them like 7 years to make those! But here’s Lio Convoy!

But then of course, there’s the glorious speculation of the future. We can get an Apache, Bighorn. Gosh I would kill for an anime accurate Bighorn. But I don’t think I’ll have to!

Also Megastorm! He’s entirely possible! A pretty decent G2 Megatron figure approximation. I’m sure people will start making him into one if he’s made.

But back to Lio Convoy, gosh that’s so cool to say with the knowledge it exists. The robot mode is beautiful. The kibble is clear but I’m accepting of it. Also cause it’s accurate. Plus it looks solid. It doesn’t feel like it’s hanging off. It’s a chunk. A very uneven chunk that has little cohesion but it is solid. Also lion mode. I wanna see more angels but I like the mane. And I think the gaps in it will be acceptable if you can get good angles from it.

But in summary, I’m very happy, and can’t wait.

 

I’m fine with that. Other series need representation too. And I’d rather have a prominent character like Lio Convoy get a toy first than the likes of Brawn and Windcharger.

 

Bot mode is cool but that lion mode is just too cartoony/silly looking for me.
I did like the old original figure for it's time but as for this...

Probably mostly because there were other Beast Wars MPs I was hoping would be next MUCH more than this.

I'm happy for those who wanted a cartoon accurate MP Lio Convoy though.

 

Im buying every MP48 Lio Convoy repaint down the line...

 

Brilliant robot mode. Beast mode is somehow worse than even the RobotMaster Lio. The PE version isn't quite as cool in robot mode, but at least it has a better beast mode, even if it looks like a Zoid.

I have never liked either BW anime, but I have a huge attachment to the original toy, since I assumed, in those fun days of limited information on alt.toys.transformers, that Lio was a reincarnated Optimus with a white lion form, which still seems far cooler than the actual Takara fiction for the character.

That said, Takara has been doubling the price and the QC issues of their MPs lately, so I will probably wait for the KO that fixes both or just skip this entirely, like I did with BW Megs and his cracked and exploding $250 crotch.

The lion head in beast mode looks...strange. But anyway, good for those waiting for an updated Lio Convoy. And I'll like to see someone picturing pthis and PE's Leonidas together.

 

It’s not supposed to represent a realistic real life lion. It’s representing the old anime appearance which it captures spot on.

 

I wouldn't go that far, that thing was truly hideous. It looked more like a dog than a lion

Un - ex - pected, but maybe not all that surprising. Takara loves to sell a Convoy.

Looks really nifty in robot mode, though I'm not a fan of the big lion paws sticking out the back of his arms, though that's probably totally anime accurate for all I know.
Lion mode I'm less of a fan of. Feels like a mix of the compromise that hits a lot of BW masterpiece toys with all-too-accurate cartooniness. I find it interesting how transformation swaps Kimba face for Zoids face.

I might think about getting it if the price isn't totally stupid, but recent history is telling me it will be. (and someone will berate the price-haters and tell them that if they pre-order direct from Japan and jump through three hoops it will only cost 70 percent.)
