Why do a crowdfund on a repaint of an old mold? They should of used the effort on a combiner crowdfund.

We still don't know the full details of the project. The golden G1 Prime on the image is just a promotional picture.

 

It could be a secret project / development to create a hyper realistic, fully AI functional, 8 foot tall Convoy robot for all we know. Hence the request for a crowd fund.

It's not, one colour repaints are just really easy  

 

I am not an artist, so legitimate question. Is there a reason other than cost that all these recent gold figures (LP Soundwave, MP YOTSomething Soundwave, Golden Lagoon, This) have that yellow on so much of the figure as opposed to gold paint? Guessing the simplest answer of wear and tear over time on joints is probably it, but this yellow "gold" kills my interest in a lot of these figures (though I still may pick up the perceptor pack at some point).

 

From what I've heard it's to prevent paint damage.
