So how are the new shoulders designed compared to the original?

So wait, if you buy a new run of Tarn he’ll come with the updated shoulders and you won’t have to buy a second figure to get them?

the actual joints come preloaded with grease so that helps eminencely. they also did their best not to grind in a weak spot when they cleaned up the spruce. i dont have much experience with the broken shoulders as much. but the one i fixed for a friend seemed a little on the brittle side. these dont seem like they will randomly snap. the purple feels the same they could have just whipped up a better batch. also the flashing on the inside sprue in the abdomen is cleaned up. i know on some figs that also caused the swing arm to bind up.

    Well that was random.

Just got an email from Iron Factory in response to one I sent three months ago. They're sending me the new parts for Dubhe/Tarn. Free.

    Nice.

Well, today I picked my Tarn to install his arms fixes and noticed that his legs are extremely loose. I find out that his outer black joint pieces of legs (I don't really know how to describe it properly, see attached pic) are both cracked! THat's so sad, because I really like the figure. I guess I just buy a new one sometimes in the future.
PS: LazyAza, I used your pic, I hope you don't mind.

Almost skipped out on this guy on account of the shoulder issues. Really glad I didn't, as he's one of my favorite IF figures to date.

The stock shoulder joints seem to be holding up ok on mine, poseability is great. Tons of personality. I think this is one of IF's more successful tank modes in that it's a clean sculpt from most angles and doesn't require a ton of partsforming to get there:

And you know what? I actually dig the sculpt of Dubhe over MMC's Kultur. He's got a bit more bulk up top, the shape of the mask seems more accurate and the proportions of the thigh/legs are better. In tank mode the cannon feels more successfully integrated into the vehicle (as opposed to Kulture, who comes across as a sled with a turret plopped up on top). The biggest gripe I can put out there is that he seems a bit undersized next to your standard IF carbot.

Looking forward to the rest of the team!

I too am a little disappointed in his size now that I have IF Tyrant / Megatron. I always imagined Tarn as being a little bit bigger than Megatron. But they are both by far two of the best - if not THE best - action figures in my little TF collection. I wouldn't even care if Tarn or Megatron were non-transforming. I need to get some photos of Tarn with his other two cohorts still. Which are also great action figures; especially Vos...

I've seen Baba on ebay has this guy for preorder, is it a reissue? Apologies if it's already been said before

Looks like a re-issue. TFSource has it for pre-order as well. This would be the run to get in on because I'm sure it'll have the updated arm joints.

I like these mini DJD figures although I find Tarn to be the least satisfying transformation. A bit too fiddly but he looks great and the removable mask is golden.

Finished up my set too, over the weekend. Loving these guys. IF has my money.
Also: no replacement shoulders on my Tarn. Works like a charm. :)

The best thing MFT can do, when they actually get around to producing this KO, is bump up the size and put a nice scar in that mask. As it is, it's just a little too plain looking for me. It almost looks like it came out of a Lego set.
