I asked the same question and they cleared up that Lightsabers can be brought on a plane. Just check it in as a Toy.

You can just go to the kiosk and get in line. From what people are saying if you aren’t in line within 15-20 minutes of your group being let in then you aren’t getting in.
If you can’t find the kiosk just tell a cast member that you have an appointment with Savi or that you’re looking to buy some scrap and they’ll point you to the right place.

One item of note is that from people frequenting the park it appears that yellow and white crystals have been sold out for a while now, and the black ones have been pulled from sale after scumbag resellers started causing issues trying to find them. So hopefully if you’re going anytime soon you aren’t too set on those colors.

Don't think they are gonna do a password thing. The smart thing would be to do pre reserved reservations online like bippity boppity boutique does. The legacy lightsabers look great, the only difference is they don't use the kyber crystal system to change the blade color.

The Kiosk. Are you talking about the one in Tomorrow Land or is there one in Galaxy's Edge.

The kiosk is outside Savi’s, inside Galaxys Edge.

OK. Maybe I should look at one of those review video to see what it looks like. IS it like a computer or like one of those fastpass dispensers?

I do not think the Galaxies Edge lightsabers are of Master Replicas quality. I do plan on looking at the Disneys sabers when I visit the park. But if you have the money I would recommend buying a custom saber from Vader's Vault, Saber Forge, or Ultra Sabers. I own a saber from each of those companies, if you buy there you of the line specs (about $500-$800), you have a quality piece, with premium sound and the ability to change the color of your blade, along with the best quality Led system.

No it’s a proper kiosk staffed with cast members who will show you the different types and take your payment.

OK, maybe I should just go up to a cast member and say, "I would like to book an appointment to buy some scraps."

Here is a map to better show it, it’s just round the corner from Dok Ondars place, just get in line and they’ll get you in

IS it just right between Dok and Savi's where those rocks are?

Or ask Kylo Ren, he patrols the area with some Stormtroopers, he should be very helpful.

Just take that little path below it and to the right. Where you see the green awning is where the kiosk is.

I guess one last thing to ask is when using the Kiosk, do I need my park ticket or my mobile to make sure the reservation is for me?

That I don’t know. I don’t believe you do but I’d suggest asking the Galaxys Edge reddit to be sure.

I haven't been there yet (going this coming Friday, woooo!) but I've heard several accounts of the "scrap metal" area not doing anything saber-related while First Order troops are in the immediate area. Aside from that, you're given a card with your appointment time on it once you purchase the saber, so I'd imagine that'd be your "password".

I watched a YouTube video last night (trying to find it again to link here,) of someone describing how his 4-hour reservation turned into an 8-hour stay. Basically, he's claiming that (a) once you pay for Savi's Workshop, you're getting your lightsaber even if it puts you past your 4-hour window or miss your appointment, and (b) once you're in line for a ride, you're not going to be chased out if the wait time goes past your 4 hours. He also claims that this info was told to him by Cast Members, and that it's subject to change. Whether or not you believe his claims, it's worth noting that Disneyland's always let guests get in line for rides even if it's just a few minutes before the park is supposed to close. I can't imagine that they'd be willing to risk giving guests a bad experience by turning them away from a ride or attraction due to their window closing soon, I'd certainly be surprised if they'd refuse a guest admission into Savi's after they've paid (which you do up front) and I'd be genuinely shocked if they actually gave a refund as an option, lol. I've seen it noted on Ziggy Knows Disney that, should you miss your saber appointment time, you will not be admitted and you will lose your $200. This sounds utterly preposterous to me, but I do have to point out that someone has claimed that.

Skip to 1:19 for the actual description of what happened.

As for comparing the Legacy & Savi's lightsabers, it depends on what aspects are more important to you. Legacy sabers start at $110 (Obi, Mace, Rey) for just the hilt alone, and go all the way up to $200 for Ashoka's pair of hilts (or even $260 if you want to have the full, double-ended version of Maul's saber.) Then the blades are an extra $45 - $50 each, depending on which length you want. They seem to be nearly identical to the park-exclusive sabers (Rey, Kylo & Vader) that have been available for a year or so.

Personally, I prefer the look and dimensions of the Legacy sabers. They seem more in line with what I feel a replica lightsaber should be. Savi's sabers seem a bit on the bulkier side, more in line with Hasbro's older line of $30 - $40 sabers that used the LED style blades but were still clearly toys.

Even though the Savi sabers look slightly oversized (to me, anyway) they do have the benefit of customization, from the hilt pieces to the crystal itself, and you can always buy extra crystals to change the blade color & saber sounds. Legacy sabers are locked into their own specific color & sound combinations, even though both sabers use the same blades (though I'd expect someone to hack that eventually.)

Speaking of blades, there are three sizes. The longest is 36", which costs $50. I cant seem to lock down solid info regarding the exact length of the $45 "short" blade, or the blade that comes with the Savi saber, but I do know that the Savi blade is the "medium" length of the three. Here's a screenshot of the three blades from a recent episode of Rexin_Around:

Overall, both types have relatively similar prices, but the Savi's Workshop does offer the greater Star Wars experience. If I was buying online or having a friend pick one up for me, I'd go with the Legacy one. If I was visiting the park & got the actual experience in-person, I'd go with Savi's. Or I'd just go nuts & buy one of each, lol.

@Geof7609, but are the legacy hilts on par with the quality of a Master Replicas hilt?

The Ventress hilt is a retool of the same mold Hasbro used for theirs, it only now can remove a blade.

you get a color coded card that tells you what your group is and they tell you what time to come back. It's not really a kiosk, its like an actual cashier that takes your payment first before you even do the experience. You won't miss the line, also you can just ask a cast member for Savi's workshop. Just don't use the word lightsaber (since the Stormtroopers are on lookout for those) and they'll help you.
