I definitely feel the pinch of capitalism, but the facts are these, when I look at the plus versions they make me happier. I get that warm and fuzzy feeling I had every morning before school watching the 5 minute episodes on Bozo the clown"s tv show. I'm in, and the shoulder mounted weapons definitely are incorporated in the transformation now. I hope there will be multiple faces. I have to ask though, does anyone else feel that rumbling....you know, the precursor to a MP 13+ showing up....

 

Actually yeah, Prime, Bee, Hound, a plus Streak and Smokescreen....yeah, pretty damn good. What's that? Beast Wars who? Never heard of that LOL

 

MP-19 was the first MP I ever purchased - bought it on a  whim and loved it so much that I went down an expensive and mostly enjoyable collecting journey. But this thing is so bland, so disappointing and so repulsively derpy, it\'s fitting that my TT MP collecting days have come to and end. May these warm many retailers\' shelves. May TT come to regret their heel turn toward \"toon accuracy\" and obscenely inflated pricing.

 

I know this may be off topic, but looking at your avatar I became curious. Do you think the animators intentionally made thundercracker sound like a country boy, he even looked like he had a "dip" in his mouth. Just a question accompanying an observation...

 

I don't know if it was country boy or more rough around the edges. He always sounded mercenary to me. Like he's doing this as long as the pay is good and theres nothing better to do. Which makes sense sense his bio mentioned he wasn't 100% committed to the cause.

 

Hmmm, I never read the BIO's, I literally assumed the characters were as they were presented in the toons...but that makes sense, and I dig it.

 

Somehow missed this until just now. Damnit. I’m in for another +. As someone said above, they just look better to me (some more than others for sure, but still). WJ, Red Alert, Sideswipe, Prowl, Silverstreak...hopefully we’re reaching the end of these...that is unless they take another stab at ironhide’s head sculpt.

 

I use to watch at lot of stuff from the 60's when I was a kid, he just always reminded me of the street tough in those movies. Besides all the ribbing the original cartoon gets, for a good chunk of the characters that spoke, the voices they picked for them were spot on. Part of the reason I love Perceptor/Blaster so much is because of how much personality they put in their voices.

 

The only thing that will get me to buy this is if Takara includes an extra head that is G1 TOY accurate for MP-19 Smokescreen, because they stuck on the toon head on that release and I despise it. If only they did no half-a$$ toon-ify MP-19 to begin with.

As for the Jay Leno head MP-19+, it looks nice. But not enough to justify buying one at this point. Unless, again, if they included that head I mentioned. But that's just me and I am not holding my breath of them including it.

 

The original miniseries and the movie were my definitive character moments, or at least the ones that stuck. I fell in love with them, went into a bit of a coma during the extended series and then got my cherry popped by the movie. Starscream always was my fav decepticon because of his portrayal in the original mini series and the movie, which complimented one another. Likewise for all the other characters. I agree, the voices for the characters that spoke were perfection (I miss Starscream). Perceptor and Blaster were two of the most consistently characterized out of all of them, even carried over into the movie....yeah. I miss THAT part of the 80's LOL

 

Noyce. Very noyce. I still kinda prefer the deco on the first iteration of MP-19 but this + version will fit in better with the later MP figures.

And looks like this release will come with a smoke effect part. Guess I was right when I called this being a possible included accessory not too long ago. Very cool.

 

I've been holding out, but with this release I might be able to dodge a MP 13+ if it comes out by customizing a KO. The color scheme has been pretty consistent with the plus line, just some paint matching and boom, toon Soundwave. But, we all know, if they do a Soundwave there's going to be extras and subtle "perfection" changes that a customizer cant duplicate...., at the end of the day, this still beats spending money on crack..LOL

 

F#cking Takara. It's always one step forward, two steps back with them. MP-12+ and MP-14+ looking amazing, then the overpriced mess of recent brand new releases. MP-18+ looks amazing but his new head highlights how badly they skimped on Prowl and earlier bots remakes. The new Bumblebee looks so good as you pan down his body but those feet...uuurrgghh.

Then they decide to give MP-14+ the proper season 2 grey windows but MP-19+ gets blue?  
Not sure why I'm surprised though, Window colours on MP's have been a crapshoot since day one with absolutely no consistency, rhyme or reason. I thought they were moving past that with these new "plus" releases but ... nope.
Fortunately, I'll be painting the windows on this guy, just like I did with my other car's, so it doesn't really matter.


At least now I understand the price hikes in recent MP's. Not only does Smokescreen have a Datsun licence for his alt mode, Takara needed a Jay Leno licence for his bot. Bet that was pricey!!

 

And paint it brown...with flecks of red...

Yeeeeaahhh...

Barring the new TF:A-looking face and the smoke effect, the changes on this are downright subtle.

Not sure, so I'm gonna see if they cocked up the alt-mode before deciding, but DAMN, T-T!! I thought there was no reason to replace my MP-19.


P.S. Did they use snips or some other tool to take a chunk of plastic out of the fist, just behind the fingers hinge?

It's probably on the first page, but do we know if this is going to be a Takara-Tomy Mall exclusive? That might make the decision easier.

 

Seems a bit of a dickish thing to say. Essentially: I don't like them so fuck those that do, I hope they sell so bad it kills the line for everyone.

Ironically the + repaints aren't anywhere near the newer carbot prices either.

@Starganderfish I wouldn't worry about the colour of his windscreen too much after seeing Toyhax cell shaded release onslaught today. They even have a grey cell shaded window set for XTB Paen now. Matter of time till they do one for this guy.
