The actual real-life Goddamn are you on about?

The movie looks like crap, and critics think it's crap. Not surprising it turns out to be crap.

I have no problem with the actors, only with the movie.

Legit, critics and audiences have been disagreeing on almost every major film this summer.

That's somewhat to be expected, though. The critics are the type that hold films and film-makers to higher standards, and most of those are schlocky popcorn-fare movies that deliver audience thrills, but don't exactly leave much of a lasting impression, either. It's the same principal that drove the Transformers films' box office success for most of a decade. That's also the method by which most horror movie franchises operate. Horror audiences are mostly just addicted to the cheap thrills and adrenaline rushes, so they lap up pretty much everything thrown at them. Slasher and jump-scare horror almost always perform well at the box office, and make a tidy sum of money because they can frequently be produced on shoe-string budgets. But they almost always perform horribly on a critical level.

Not to say that critics perhaps should "grade on a curve" more and adjust their expectations to the movie's intent more than their own particular tastes to seem more relevant. But the simple fact is that entertaining films don't necessarily need to be good films. Audiences are looking for the former, the critics the latter. The reason the deck looks so stacked in Marvel's favour is the franchise heads there are actually aiming for both, and it really does show.

The percentages also ignore the raw numbers involved in the equation. Yeah, 100% of audience members liked the shitty film, but if only 10 people actually went to the theatres, expecting a shitty film and getting exactly what they came for, then they came out satisfied. But everybody else stayed away. That's not good.

    Oh critics?
    Don't forget Venom :lolol

Both Critics and General Audience always have different gauge of contentment and expectation on most movies. Critics have this "high standard", while General Audience wants some level of fun and entertainment.

Transformers Age of Extinction's $1 Billion Box-Office is a straight F.U.by Michael Bay to his critics :lol

All I'm going to say is, Tessa Thompson, Chris Hemsworth, and Liam Neeson are in a film together, and that's really all I need. After that, it could be the biggest garbage ever, as long as they're in it, I am sure I will be entertained throughout the entire run time.

Agreed. I'm going to see this one for the actors. Huge bonus points if they slip in cheap ragnarok jokes.

This is the kind of film I need right now. After all those super serious films like Dark Phoenix, and Godzilla. Just a dumb fun action adventure with three very charming actors in it. That's really all I need.

Blech. This new annual installation of "dog movie" trend is so transparent and pandering.

The vast majority of critics on RT are just professional fans. Academic criticism of something like Secret Life of Pets 2 is almost nonexistent, it's a bunch of Jeremy Jahns level non insight. The disagreement on King of the Monsters is pretty hilarious because it's not between fans and non fans, but between fans who get paid to watch every movie and fans who pay to watch every movie

I don't care if a film's successful or not, all I care about is if I get my money's worth of entertainment out of it. And, I am positive I will get that from the cast alone. That is all I need.

I've just seen it. It's a damn fun experience. Liam Neeson, Chris Hemsworth, and Tessa Thompson are fantastic in this film. It's a very predictable plot, but, it's a damn good movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's not the best thing ever, but damn do I love it!

The MIB International spinoff can keep going. Love it. 8 out of 10. The most fun I've had in months! And, that is really all a movie needs to be. Fun.

It's a way more fun film than Godzilla 2, Dark Phoenix, or Jiggle nostalgia in your face, Aladdin.
