    Opening line was great
Before you catch MIB International on cable or on an airplane or something.

At least, this movie is direct by the same guy who direct a fast and furious movie.

From someone who gives no shits about that franchise, that doesn't help. With average movie tickets costing $20 or more these days, this is definitely a watch at home kind of thing. Even MIB3 was garbage.

Yay! I see the rottentomatoes fuckers are doing their thing again. Another rotten non-MCU movie. Who could've guessed?

Can't wait for them to rave about Spider-Man Far From Home. I hope I'll be wrong but c'mon, herd mentality.

Oh, come off it. MiB's not even competing with a Marvel movie in the box office right now, so there's no point of sabotaging it. Not that that's actually a thing, anyways.

It's not Marvel/Disney's fault that they've mastered the art of crafting a crowd-pleasing film, and that other studios have troubles stepping up to the plate, quality-wise.

That says more than you realize about the crowd. Or should I say herd. The hive mind. The followers that can't think for themselves.

I can't believe somebody is actually defending movie critics.

Hollywood is just getting worse and worse. I had this one pegged as a dud since the first trailer. Right now, the MCU is definitely making the best blockbusters. Don’t call me a Marvel fanboy though because I’m not even sure if I’ll see Far From Home in theaters or not because I wasn’t big on Homecoming. The only movies for the rest of the year that I’m really looking forward to are Ford vs Ferrari and Rambo: Last Blood

Or maybe people are just sick of shitty movies? Come on, what at all in the MIB trailers looked even remotely innovative? We're now seeing an age of cinema where special effects aren't just going to cut it anymore as the crowd has been spoon fed CGI so much they've grown numb to it. Movie audiences want to spend their time and money on effects AND story telling. You can no longer get by with just pretty pictures.

where the hell do you go to the movies? now, i have quite a few $20+ theaters and a few theaters that have $20 areas in them in my area but that is nowhere near the average. I agree with almost everything else, I know MIB3 was bad but i enjoyed Thanos and Luke Cage in it.

You should maybe get yourself checked for signs of whiplash, the way you twirl about to avoid popular things like the plague.

People only have so many different emotions to play to. It just so happens that Marvel plays to the subset that reliably earns them ~$1B per movie. That's what popularity is.

Not falling into that crowd doesn't make you an "enlightened individualist", it just makes you an outlier. And by deriding the majority, that just makes you an attention-seeking contrarian.

I mean, you're the one here who seems to care enough about what they say to get upset about it.

Who would ever want to defend movie critics? I mean, critics are such a vile subset of people who *checks notes* have opinions about how a movie works. It's just so awful.

You're not entirely wrong, in the sense the constant pushing for more and more revenue from the people at top forces hasty decisions and poor planning from those lower on the totem pole.

But still, the onus is on the studios themselves to create a quality product, and there needs to be a real reckoning of how they conduct business if they keep coming up short like this.

Not surprised. The trailers sucked. Other than John Wick, it's been a really rough summer so far.

Yeah, that's what surprised me most about this whole thing. I'm sure the movie could have done decently well given the hype around the two leads back when they were announced, but they epically screwed the pooch with their marketing campaign for it. The posters... the trailers... the terrible commercials... some of the worst I've seen. People aren't not going to this because of cherished memories of the originals and all that bullshit - they're not going because Sony has made it look sooooo astoundingly cheap & phoned in.
