The vote is supposed to go live tomorrow and be open for 48 hours.

 

When I interviewed John Warden at SDCC last year, he mentioned having designs of what some of those folks (he mentioned Hound specifically, as I recall) would have looked like. When I asked about the possibility of sharing those with the fans, he seemed to express willingness... someday. He was clearly concerned about causing confusion if the designs were released too soon.

Well that is an odd vote. Gnaw just had a great troop-building figure (I have five, 4 TR, 1 Legends) and he is just getting a larger sized cheap troop builder in Cyberverse.
And Shrapnel/Skrapnel not only has a very nice Legends toy in Generations that is to scale with the other Insecticons, it was just reissued in PotP.
Needlenose I am betting we are gonna get anyway, as he was in the listings of the first vote that Mirage and Impactor won. 
So my vote of course goes for the Transformers equivalents of Beavis and Butt-Head, Runabout and Runamuck. They have yet to get any Generations toys - the overpriced and not really great TFCC versions don\'t count. Finally I can get rid of that Cybertron Runamuck that I have as a stand-in!

 

The reason I haven't bought any Siege yet is because so far what's appeared at my local Walmart have mostly been characters we recently got releases of, and I'm kind of sad that a lot of the Voyagers and Leaders are ones we've recently had releases for.
This fanvote is disappointing for similar reasons.

 

I would like to see what a Siege Insecticon would look like/feel like, as I was not thrilled by the quality of the previous release.
With that said, I will probably vote for Runabout and Runamuck.

 

Really want needlenose to win tomorrow's poll. I just don't know how I feel if runabout/runamuck wins.

 

Honestly.... it's tough between Runabout/Runamuck and Needlenose. Those three really deserve a better figure. But the fact they put Needlenose TWICE in a fan vote has to mean something right? Hoping he wins this time, but Runabout/Runamuck would be cool too. But wait, if it turns out to be Runabout/Runamuck, will the other repaint still be a part of Siege or will they go to the Select Series? Just curious.

 

it would also be a chance to unify the design AND bring in Chop Shop, Venom and some of the other Insecticons. Even as it is, Skrapnel stands out from Bombshell and Kickback, quite a bit. He is less detailed and his head is friggin tiny.

 

I mean, fans would hate it too. Because if retailers hated it, how would you get them to the fans.

I didn't realize you meant literal leadership, I was just thinking of representation in the upper price points.

The Prime Armor is part of the PotP Deluxe budget, but when you factor in the price increase from PotP to Siege a character like Greenlight comes rolling in with not only a denser/taller figure but also *two* substantial accessories.

And being a retool doesn't stop a figure from still being the same price as their mold mates. Nova Star wasn't any cheaper for being a retooled Moonracer.

As for Ironhide, he's mostly hollow...but that just means he's as tall as Greenlight but less dense. So again, she's overall a more substantial figure than her Siege counterpart in Chromia. It's possible that the changes made to go from Greenlight -> Chromia would leave enough room to package a Battlemaster instead of the accessories they do now.

Bet some of that "confusion" would be the designs were similar to other figures we got, or are getting. And the last thing Hasbro would want is to tip their hand should they decide to revisit those concepts as future figures. (or generate disappointment if they never come to pass)

...Huh. Wonder if Hound's evolution design would've been based on some variation of Cybertron Defense Hot Shot. And that's why they had the head laying around for the artists to mistakenly use for his box art.

 

I don’t think the Prowl repaints are taking up spots for new molds. Every line has repaints to fill it out and increase the cost effectiveness of a mold.

The existence of Barricade in wave 4 doesn’t mean a new mold lost its chance to appear. Without Barricade you’d simply get a different repaint.

 

I’m gonna vote for Needlenose when the vote goes live.

 

Good point. Also call me crazy, but the inconsistent purple plastic really annoyed me for some reason. I'm not usually OCD when it comes to figures but the fact that none of them really share the same shade just got on my nerves. As such, I'm still using the Toys R Us reissue set of the G1 toys as my insecticons.

 

It really does feel like a thrown together mix. And with the exception of Gnaw, if we get any of the other three it lends itself to "needing" others to round out the set.

 

As we saw in the second half of TR and all of PotP, the alternative to a random repaint is simply repacking the original figure. So no Barricade would just mean Prowl is sent back out there.

 

I’m personally voting for Shrapnel.

 

Hey could @weevil add a poll to the thread (or would there have to be a new thread opened just for that)? I'd be curious to see what the folks here would choose, without having to go back through all the individual posts and tabulating them myself.

 

I like how at first glance Needlenose's silhouette looks like he has a righteous ponytail.

 

We need more Transformers with ponytails. The closest we've got are things like TM2 Megatron where the dragon tail is just sorta hanging off his helmet.

 

This is my big hang up - I'm not against new Insecticon molds, necessarily (I have three each of the previous Generations ones, so I'm also not necessarily buying new ones, anyway), but I don't need singleton members of iconic teams/parings. Please, Hasbro, let us know if we'd get the whole teams before we vote

BTW, if they announced Gnaw will definitely get repainted/retooled as a Mecannibal, I'd start doing Russian troll farmer levels of Facebook spamming to make him win
