Looks good, but that looks like a weak prototype. The upper legs are coming apart. Looks more like a HGUC than a Robot Damashii.

This! Jesta is my most desired RD figure never made. I'm hoping we get one down the road along with the Jesta Cannon Components.

In case anyone is interested in some extra tampos. I wonder if all the major characters in the ANIME line will get the lavish treatment? Is NT-1 Alex next?

Anyways, olive green Zaku was the first tampo exclusive.

I actually got the robot damashii RX-78NT-1FA (Full Armor ALEX)

It is quite the package, an entire secondary try of all sorts of effects to recreate the various scenes from 0080. Oddly, it is missing any bazooka firing effects even though it comes with a bazooka. The instructions say you have to use the effects from another figure

The armor goes on easily enough, but i did notice a couple things that the master grade can do that the RD cannot, for example:

In full armored mode, the forearms have openings that allow the gatling guns to peek out and fire. Similarly, the shield has a hatch that swings open for the gatlings as well

I obviously do not expect the full skeleton structure under the armor like the MG has, but it seems like those two features could have been done on the RD scale. A minor nitpick

I am impressed that even with armor on, it retains a pretty good range of movement, with the biggest impediment being the rear leg swing.

Everything else it can still do. The base unarmored figure is similar to your other RGM-79's and RX-78's and has all the same tricks. Comes with the normal 2 beam sabres, rifle, bazooka, and shield, hands to use them all, four beam sabre effects, and like i said, lots and lots of explosion effects. Another win for the ANIME line

now bring on the damn 0083 figures

Did you misposted that MG here?

MGs and stuff usually goes to the main Gundam plamo thread --> Let's see your Gundams

Guess you were responding to TR's question?

Bandai already released two versions of the RD Alex (regular single and twe-only chobham-armor), and both conspicously and deliberately left out the prominent Alex shield-sticker/decal.

I don't think the Alex is even that much an average seller to get a third release just to get Bandai to fix and install the Alex sticker.

No. I said I received the robot damashii ALEX full armor today

As I was fiddling with it, i noticed it could not do what the MG could do and posted the MG pic to illustrate

I'll edit my post since apparently it is unclear

Those tampo versions look great! Love the old school MSV tampos with old school ANIME aesthetic.
The MSV MS like Dom test type should really come with these tampos too.

Yeah, really like the tampos from an msv point of view too. I put the ones that came with the prototype gundam on mine, though it was a stressful experience!

I think one of my biggest complaints about the RD line is how much part-swapping is involved with most of the figures these days. I really appreciated MSIA figures that had features built in, such as gatlings that would pop up instead of having to be swapped in, etc. It never made much sense to me that Bandai kept moving in this direction - if I wanted parts swapping i'd just buy the models.

Blast it man! Why must you tempt me with those pictures! Just kidding!

Those decals really make the figures pop! I really like the ones on the RX, they remind me of the Super HcmPro...especially the shoulders and the yellow rectangular pieces on the waist!

You just hit my gripe with most collectors toys on the head! When I was a kid, I loved how most my toys have built in gimmicks. If something was supposed to have a missile launcher, you open a panel and BOOM, missiles! Now, all these figures come with an entire box full of parts and anything you want to do requires removing and adding parts. It really takes away from the play value. With all the different lines that are made, I wish someone would make a high end play line that brought back the built in gimmicks.

I used to wonder about that too. I think what Bandai is aiming for is sculpt and accuracy over integrated gimmicks for less of a toyetic look. This in turn, is actually inspired from the model kits. Whatever we see that's innovative on their Gunpla now will probably used in the RD line 10 years from now. Gunpla models years back used to have less swappable parts in favor of integrated gimmicks but these days it's the other way around, with even finger sections of the hands being swappable instead of being articulated(for example) and entirely frames for transforming mobile armors being swappable(instead of incorporating the actual transformation itself). It's also a way to reduce parts count/increase sturdiness since gimmick integration would require more moving hinges/parts in an already small scale.

Those are the reasons Bandai seems to be going in that direction but I do agree with you, I prefer gimmick integration over swapping. I think Bandai goes with accuracy/aesthetic over integration because they know those that buy into this line either:
    • Don't have the time to build gunpla
    • Want a semblance to the accuracy and articulation gunpla is known for without having to build gunpla
    • Want to readily pose something that's got a semblance to gunpla with less fear of something breaking(not to say RD breakages don't happen, they do, just with much less frequency than a polystyrene Gunpla kit)
