Yo homies. HLJ running a sale that includes Arcadia 1/60 M&M as well as some Hi-Metal. HobbyLink Japan - Search Results for Macross
Missile set arrived yesterday. Bought in anticipation of the VF-1S, but I have to admit they give the VF-1J a nice added punch in fighter mode: I believe this is the exact same spread that we've come to expect in Arcadia's 1/60 super/strike releases; 4 micro missile pods , 12 micro missiles and 6 reaction warheads. You have 12 hard-points to work with; four for the micro missiles (they're mounted in sets of three), four for the reaction missiles (two are individually-mounted, two are mounted in pairs), and four built-in hard-points for the pods. That's enough to fully-equip three VF-1s, provided you're not picky about their particular equipment load. They're painted as well as you'd expect, with some nice, clean tampo work. Bandai didn't choose to go above and beyond in any way (it would have been neat if those pods could be opened-up and serviced), but aesthetically they get the job done. A work of caution on the hard-points for the individually-mounted reaction missiles. Once they're fully installed into the missile, the task of prying them apart is going to be somewhere between obnoxious and impossible. Personally, I'm not sure if I care all that much; they basically function as a single piece anyway. But if you think you'll ever want to separate those missiles from their hard-points, I'd recommend either not pushing them together all the way or lightly sanding the connection point. With all of that said, Bandai's strategy of selling accessories "a-la carte" is making me feel salty about this set. I ended up paying nearly double MSRP, because by the time the VF-1S was revealed (and also revealed not to include any missiles), this set was sold-out everywhere. Buying a stripped-down release and "completing" it with option packs isn't a big problem if those parts are readily available. But between pre-order madness and TWEs? I get why some folks have put in multiple pre-orders for that super/strike set. I'm glad I got it, but I suspect most folks won't look into this tray and see $40 worth of stuff, let alone $75. But if you need it, you need it.
Damn, I thought NY would have the DX SS parts set in stock for longer than that but they now say sold out.......unless they are just waiting to put them back up at a higher price.........I just needed one more day, I'm getting paid on Monday. Rats!
Oh it'll be up again, trust me. Probably with an inflated price, but you should be able to nab a set.
Yeah, I was talking shit like I had months before I needed to buy it but saw that too. No worries, they (Bandai) already announced there would be another batch so I think it won’t be a problem and they will be available again but will see on the price. Either way, I’ll buy it faster next time, lol.
Ha ha ha… No one is going to touch the Evo Version of the VF-2ss, piece of garbage. If the DX version of the VF-2ss was made, it would be worth getting.
Count me among the people who missed the extra parts. I'm waiting for the second run, but if it comes out at an inflated price, I'll seriously give a look at the Valkyrie Factory offering.
No, I was thinking about the KO of the arcadia vf1s that comes with missiles and extra parts for about $160.
Another possible problem... the KO Valkyie Factory Arcadia Missiles may not fit in the DX Bandai Valks and the hardpoint connection nubs are different (unless you want to sand it to match). Nope... All TWE Strike parts are sold out for now. Wait for another run and nab them right away or wait till Manda, AE, etc gets a batch and get them at a slightly increased price.
Thanks for the advice, but I'm not planning to use KO parts on the DX valkyries, if I buy the Valkirie Factory VF1S I 'ok display that one with the missiles and super parts.
Alright made my first Taobao order, and preordered the strike pack from shadow toyzone. Hopefully it works out!
