Hello Everyone! I'm here to review everyone's favorite chonky boi: Long Haul!

Before anyone asks, I got him on ebay. That's where basically every early release figure comes from. Now on to the figure!

Bot mode is pretty great. Shorter than the original but way WAY beefier. This is accurate to the design so I'm very happy. He is also kibble heavy in the upper body, which is also accurate to the design. This is where things get a little dicey for me, as the giant wheels behind his shoulders hamper arm movement due to clashing with the large shield/missile pods on his arms. Still, posability is quite good despite his chunky nature. You can get some pretty dynamic poses and he has very good ankle pivot (although no front to back, think siege Ironhide, but Long Haul has toe movement at least!). His waist can rotate 360 degrees, as this becomes the ankle joint for devastator in foot mode. You just need to swing the (quite large) backpack up a bit to get the full range of movement. You can get some very dynamic and expressive poses.





He doesn't come with any external weapons or accessories, although after I rewatched some clips from youtube I realized he is supposed to have missile launchers and some sort of gun built into the arm kibble. I also discovered that if you rotate and flip out the arm kibble you can make a sort of shield that looks pretty good!




Paint is quite good. Nothing really jumps out to me as desperately needing to be painted, although I'll probably do some detailing myself later on. Headsculpt is great. It's a funny mix of angry and sad that really makes me want to know more about him haha!



Truck mode is....OK. Although this one is more accurate to the movie, I think this is one point where the original figure wins. That's mostly due to the back of the truck, with the arms exposed very blatantly in the truck bed and most of the torso and head visible from the back. It helps to turn the head around, but it ain't too pretty. Still, this figure wins over the original 09 figure in bot mode, and also for being able to freaking combine!




Foot mode isn't as impressive on its own like Rampage, but I'm sure it'll be serviceable as a foot.




Comparisons with his fellow Constructicons. This is quickly becoming my favorite group of Transformers in a long time and I really hope the quality continues with Hightower and the rest! I think we'll have the entire combiner by late summer of next year, based on the updated release dates in Long Haul's instruction booklet.

I think he is the best constructicons by far in this year should get this guy first if you want to build Devy

 

Great review as always! I’ll just pretend he’s 24ft all this time if that’d help get over my scale fussiness, but if by chance he could be mistransformed to extend his height that’d be even better!

 

Holy FUCK I need this guy. Too bad I already spent money off of this paycheck otherwise I'd grab him off ebay too. I hope enough samples last until next payday, haha.

Not a chance. He's chunky and he won't have it any other way. He has taken a long time to cultivate self-love and be OK with his body type so let's just encourage him to be proud!

Yep. This is the figure I've been waiting on since '09. The original ROTF toy was just waaaay too lanky. This guy has all the beef he's meant to have. Can't wait to get him!

Man, I love Long Haul's design. Easily one of the best from the Bayverse.

 

This is one chunky beauty. Love it and can't wait to own it.

I think the only thing that needs paint is the little nubs on his forearm guards, which I believe are meant to represent his missiles, so they should be white and red.

Although, if they are also tabs for transformation, it may not work out too well to paint them.

 

This is my dilemma now. They do have a big part in holding the truck bed together so I’m afraid to paint them but on the other hand having him point green nubs at his enemies just doesn’t feel right. That and adding some silver to some of the wire details is probably all I’ll do to him.

 

Ugh, would you recommend long haul to a person not getting the rest of the devy cons? Your pictures are making it so irresistible! This is the SS38 nightmare all over again!  

 

You'd think they could've, I dont know, taken parts from the other Decepticons left down there from the first movie, but then we wouldn't get to see how "brutal" the news guys are...I guess?

 

I'm not the right guy to ask cause I think all three of the constructicons so far are awesome even on their own.

Maybe they need to be "fresh" parts? The only other time we see this happen is when Jetfire sacrifices himself, and there were plenty of dead bots around if it was just literally metal that they needed. I dunno, best not to think too hard about the bay movies this way
