Crap. I want it but I guess I'll wait for a toy version. Like the toy versions of Tracks and Sunstreaker I've been waiting for.
    They are coming though right?
    They are coming.
    They're on their way.............

At this point an MP-25+ is just as likely to follow the 18+ route - giving us some alternate faces (the head is already designed to have them swap out), very slight changes to the flame pattern and Autobot insignia, and non-metallic blue paint. That’s if it even happens at all.

Sunstreaker seems more likely. But still not confident it will happen.

Nice to suggest @Cyclonus79 is lying without reading his post properly! He said his friends did follow the franchise but didn't collect the toys.

The wheels are totally right. As per the Diaclone original he's based on a Mitsubishi J59 - that's a specific civilian model in the J50 series produced 81 to 86. 50 series designates the regular short wheelbase Jeep and the specific numbers designate different years and engine options. So it's correct they are not military version wheels, cos he's not a military version.

    Mitsubishi1982.jpg

The real question is why a Japanese civilian jeep in the 80s has US army like markings? Well I guess we can speculate an American expat in Japan who was a military enthusiast bought a Jeep and customised it :) . But wait forget Diaclone - in Transformers lore Teletran scanned a Jeep in a US base. Hmmm well that must have been the civilian staff car park and owned by a Japanese expat who imported his Mitsubishi :)

    Appreciate where your coming from.

For me however, Hound was one of my favourites as a kid and I haven't owned any incarnation of him since that G1 toy.

Yes the price is extortionate, but I work hard for what bit of money I have and sacrifice other things.

    Personally, i cant wait! :)

What are you talking about? Show me another Autobot car that has a robot pelvis sticking out under the front bumper of the alt mode. Of course they all have visible robot parts if you flip them upside down. But, other than the exception of Sideswipe's rear bumper, every other G1 MP car has managed to completely tuck in it's robot mode. Hound isn't doing his best work at being a "robot in disguise"

I'd like to believe the teletran theory, but if that were the case - hound would've been a willys. o_O

That is some fun explanation all for the realistic nature of toy Jeep wheels. Also makes me really want a hasbro exclusive civilian hound generic robot figure in one of those nice blues or reds.

Unlike every other car Hound has an open top. There's no seating area under the car-roof to hide any robot parts.

He's done a fine job all things considered.

Very true. And nearly all the autobot cars have no room inside. Makes sense.

I reckon that's the trade off for having an appropriately small jeep turning into a robot the same size as the other car bots. I'd rather have a bit of kibble than have a monster truck size vehicle mode like those 3rd party ones.

I get that not everyone has the same priorities though.

They really treated the 'interior' of the jeep just as well as the outside of the car in terms of getting details right.

Seats, footwells, rear bed, all look pretty great.

Probably not enough room for MP-45 back there though ;)

    This!

Also if they did find a way of hiding everything away, it would push up the size of the alt mode and people would moan about scaling.

    Cant win I suppose

It's more baffling that they went to the trouble of making it a 'shield'. Although when I say 'trouble' it's pretty clear almost zero effort was made to make it resemble a shield. I think they probably made the canopy...cos that one time in the show...then thought what can he do with it in robot mode? What have we done in the past? Oh yeah Binaltech Overdrive...job done. Either way it's not show accurate (he never had a shield...did he?) and therefore a really odd choice for the MP line.

To be honest it looked more like a shield on Windcharger/Overdrive.

    WindchargerOverdrive.jpg

I guess it's a nice option for those that want it. For me it would be just another useless accessory to keep in the bits box...if I were buying him which I'm not. Much of the rest of the accessories are pretty cool, the hologram driver is a really nice touch.

I'd like the hologram pilot to have a little bit of paint, actually!

I think the roof doubling as a shield is more of a 'why-not' moment than anything else. Sometimes it makes a lot of sense, like how Star Saber's shield becomes the base for his flight-mode stand.

It's not much weirder than Roller being able to pull MP-10's trailer, or Roller v2 being able to pull v3's command turret.

I'll probably be keeping the roof stored away most of the time, anyway. Can still see myself using it from time to time.

I expect I'll be using the hologram effect piece quite a bit.

Not sure what episode this particular cone-shaped design is from, but I guess it's close enough to how it was used in Desertion of the Dinobots:

Another excuse to get a second copy of MP-36 ;)

I guess for show accuracy's sake maybe. I imagine it might be more expensive to paint it and still have it transparent though. For example they could cast in different coloured clear plastics or one piece with various tints panted onto it but I guess they wanted to cast it on the same sprue as the hologram cone and diving mask to keep costs down?

That's pretty much what I said, it would make more sense if it actually looked like a shield though. As it it I can't imagine anyone actually wanting to use it as a shield...it looks lame. Interesting that it's not green actually...wasn't it green in the show? It's almost like they've gone for a real world look over show accuracy for a change!

I is a bit weirder, weren't those roller things either based on original toy and/or show things? Hound has never had a shield up until now...he's not even the sort of character you'd expect to use one. I have no problem with it, it's just a slightly odd choice.

The more I think about it I'm starting think both it's inclusion and it's colour were a condition of the licence?
