In a way the case is closed. The wheel design is finalized.... even though my thought about them not being military spec is dead on.

I don’t fall into either of those categories. I buy what I like because I like it. I liked Hasui’s work, and I like Kobayashi’s even more. If they did release a mirage that color I certainly wouldn’t buy it. And I’m broke too by the way. I have preorders set for 44, 45, and 47. Fortunately my career has jobs aplenty so I’ll have the money by then (whether anyone considers it wise or not). I also don’t sell my stuff unless I need to.

But none of that makes me happy about the price increases. And I don’t support anybody that claims this hobby is for the wealthy only. That’s just scummy. I think what the issue is, is some don’t like the price, and some don’t care, but the former certainly have the right to express their feelings on the price. The latter get annoyed by it. The only solutions are to either not care about anybody else’s feelings, or everyone starts being polite and considerate to everyone else. But of course that second option will never happen.

In the Masterpiece Transformers system, the people are represented by two separate but equally important groups. The show fans who investigate toon representation, and the alt mode fans who prosecute real world vehicle inaccuracies. These are their stories.

Interesting point. I have to admit that I really believe had there been no MPs prior to Sunstreaker, I really wouldn't be surprised to see these figures going for the prices they are. It's only in a comparative light I start to get the idea maybe they could be gouging us as much as everyone claims.

I'm kinda torn on this one. I love the figure, but part of me wants to wait for the more toy accurate (+) version. But a (+) version of Hound is not a certainty. Its pretty safe to say we'll be getting an MP 44+, but I'm not so sure about Hound. On the other hand he looks like he can still display well with my original MP Wheeljack, Prowl and Bluestreak. Gonna need another day or 2 to decide to pre order. They did do a great job on him though....

There’s no guarantee all of the MP will get plus versions. Seems like there might be demand for a plus Hound, tho

Aren't the + versions the toon accurate ones? Hound already looks toon accurate. Do you want a -47 that reverts back to toy accurate?

MP-36+ was toy accurate, not toon accurate. Stands to reason that a + would lean to either toon or toy, depending on the style of the original.

For the newer toon accurate MPs, the '+' versions are the toy versions. I.E MP-29+ and MP-36+ are retools of Shockwave and Megatron made to look more toy accurate.

    EDIT: Ninja'd :p

I agree $132.00 is not bad but the retail mark up here is killer. I wish I could order it from Chosen Prime but state side price is way too high. I pre ordered with Amazon Japan. Hope the price goes down a bit. Right now with shipping $14700 yen or 136.00 dollars.

It is under that now. With shipping is about 136.00 based on current exchange rate.

I wonder if that’s gonna be something for the + version and you can just store it on the robot somewhere. Or go the toon look and keep it inside.

The original Sideswipe (like the Datsuns) had detailed logos printed on. Sideswipe+ (and the other +s? I haven't checked/don't own them) doesn't and Sunstraker just has a orange triangle rather than a proper fully painted logo.

Despite the toon direction many of the real world details still exist in the moulds - they're just sometimes painted over. The most obvious real world details that were never included were the wing mirrors on the Van-bros and Grapple/Inferno. Whether this was because of toon accuracy or because the pieces would be overly fragile it's never been confirmed.
