Honestly, while I would have loved a single player tf console game a lot more, i'm so deprived of a good tf (console) game at this point that I'm actually really looking forward to this online game whenever it gets announced.

It shall only be a faded dream that i'd/we'd get a third instalment to the WFC story but w/ high moon nowhere to be found (besides destiny, if that's still an ongoing thing) I have 0 faith it'll become reality.

What excites me is that this will be the first game (since FOC) to feature a PvP Multiplayer mode. It was so much fun playing with buddies back in the day when these games were in their prime.

Interestingly enough, Destiny 2 will be ending soon as Bungie plans on shifting development into Destiny 3. However, High Moon Studios won’t be helping them out his time around since Bungie broke away from Activision. So, High Moon will basically be free to do what they want. Unless Activision has them join up with another studio (which would make sense as High Moon Studios’ staff has been low in numbers since Deadpool flopped).

Never got to experience a TF game in it’s prime. I can hardly find anyone to play WFC & FOC with, now that I finally got my hands on those two. So I’m really excited for this too, despite the game not having single player. Maybe it has a story driven co-op or survival mode? Kinda like Warframe has? They did mention that they were looking for people to create “stunning enemies” right?

Oh yes, the countless hours I spent in tdm or escalation w destroyer class is a memory I still cherish today.

I hope matt tieger is still working on something, somewhere, he dropped off the face of social media all those years ago.

Yeah, I really don't think a third WFC game will happen at this point. If it had, it probably would have happened around 2014 or 2015. I kind of figured any chance of a third game was gone after Devastation. It seems like they've moved to other projects.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to hearing more about this. It has been a while since we've gotten a proper TF game. I'm looking forward to seeing the visual style of the designs. Although if they're just now working on designs, I'm guessing they won't have much to show for a while.

I would appreciate a mode like Escalation! Keep in mind though that single-player is still in the cards, but unlikely as this game is looking to be more Multiplayer-oriented.

I loved Matt Tieger. You can tell he was clearly passionate and invested in the franchise. It is because of him that Grimlock and the Dinobots have become more mainstreamed. Those are the types of people we need behind our Transformers games.

It started yesterday with EA, and continues today with Microsoft (who just finished their presentation) and Bethesda.

Unless Nintendo or Square Enix pulls the cat out of the bag, it's too early for the game to be revealed. I'm suspect that this game is going to be aimed for a next generation consoles now and PC.

Indeed. But we still have San Diego Comic Con 2019, Gamescom 2019, and New York Comic Con 2019 to look forward to. Honestly, I would be very surprised if we don't end up hearing anything about the Transformers game this year.

For those disappointed by the lack of an E3 presence remember our first tease of the Avenges Project was 2016, 3 years before the next trailer and 4 before release.

Ugh. Yeah, this game could take forever. At least we have the WFC show to look forward to for now I guess.

Particularly given that, as Matt Teiger (did I spell that right) said while doing pre-release promotion for FOC however long ago that was, Transformers, at least done well, doesn't have as many sources for a video game to draw game play inspiration from as some franchises, it can take them a while to get the base work down before devising environments or plot, enough to give us a trailer.

    UPDATE:

I have some new information that might indicate a single-player component to the upcoming Transformers game along with more details on the “games as a service” model.

Certain Affinity has listed a multitude of jobs on their website. I did some digging and here’s what I thought stood out.

    Encounter Designer:
    • Collaborate with other teams – world building, AI, narrative, character, system designers – to meld all their best content together into a holistic and engaging experience
    • Collaborate with a narrative team of designers, engineers, cinematic artists, and writers to ensure the local and overarching narrative is being advanced in the levels and missions.
    • Work on original and licensed properties, coordinating with teams and licensors to ensure brand consistency and presentation that reflects the licensors’ needs.
    • Experience developing for Xbox One and PS4 (platforms revealed?)
    Mission Designer
    • Design and implement missions, objectives, and encounters in a third person action game.
    • Ensure that narrative context is properly delivered via the missions.
    • Work on original and licensed properties, coordinating with teams and licensors to ensure brand consistency and presentation that reflects the licensors’ needs.
    Senior Narrative Designer
    • Work closely with a diverse group of art and design disciplines to deliver a cohesive narrative experience across the entire game.
    • Assist in copywriting, editing dialogue, and policing character and tone for consistency.
    • Work on original and licensed properties, coordinating with teams and licensors to ensure brand consistency and presentation that reflects the licensors’ needs.
    • Work with Cinematic Director to create and maintain detailed storyboards for in-game and standalone cinematics.
This could just relate to the Multiplayer aspect of the game, with “mission objectives” and stuff like that. But a lot of the other things like an “overarching narrative” seem to be dead giveaways for something more. The fact that it mentioned “licensed properties” most likely relates to Transformers.

Certain Affinity is also working on two other games, one is a completely original project and the other is a Lord of the Rings game (which obviously falls under licensed property). However, the Lord of the Rings game just started development recently so it would only be right to assume this is all for Transformers, as these jobs suggest the project at hand is well under way in development.

As for what they have planned for their “games as a service” model, this is what I found.

    Senior Systems Designer
    • Work closely with the Creative Director and Lead Designer to design, prototype, and foster core gameplay systems, including player mechanics, game mechanics, game modes, inventory systems, etc.
    • Must be able to iterate, balance, and adjust gameplay elements such as combat mechanics, player and NPC abilities, collectables and player progression to create a fun and balanced experience for all types of players.
    • Analyze data and player feedback to continually optimize and improve the existing game experience.
    Online Engineer
    • Work with designers to create compelling game systems such as progression, quests, items, and customization

They also mentioned the game being “free to play” several times but I can’t seem pinpoint where I found it. This has been speculated before, so maybe our suspicions are correct? Anyways, that’s all for now. Gamescom 2019 is on August 20th - 24th. Jot it down into your calendars :)
