Kind of. I kept sanding it and putting it back on to test it. I got it to the point that it can sit between two of the ratchets because the point is blunted. For the high kicking poses, I can still get it to lock into one of the ratchets as intended. But be warned, I went too far on the first go around and sanded it almost smooth. Totally ruined them and had to get replacement parts.

That's what I had guessed. Without the teeth it just gets floppy.

I just bought Downbeat. I now own three MP style Jazz toys (Coolsville, Downbeat, J4zz) and although I think J4zz is a better toy, Downbeat is hands-down the better G1-style Jazz compared to Coolsville.

So uh. Is there a way to store the rocket launcher, rifle, and hip speakers in car mode?

After a bit of a delay, I finally got Downbeat. This is the 3rd run. I normally don’t buy 3P MPs (unless they’re Diaclone repaints) but I made an exception for this. Wow is this a spectacular figure! There’s a couple little bits of transformation that aren’t intuitive in the legs, but once you know hat you’re doing he’s great. Everything locks together nice and tight in vehicle mode. Robot mode doesn’t have stuff popping apart. Now I’m finally filing the hole in my Classic Pretender character display. No regrets!

Congrats. Yes I love this figure. The leg transformation is kind of tricky and it's annoying when the rear windshield piece pops off but when you do it right, it feels intuitive.

Just make sure that the bumper assembly is out this far (farthest it will go).

This provides more than enough clearance and it feels oh so nice to see it rotate on its own.

To me, this is ALMOST the perfect Jazz. If only there was better range of motion in the shoulders (without the tabs popping off) and if the legs didnt have those ratchets so that he would have better poseability. The sculpt is so clean and amazing.

This toy needs decals, without it he's too bland.

Also he needs paint, silver on feet and possibly shins, white for the thighs.

Another negative is the tabs not staying in secure enough for posing.

A personal gripe of mine is the waist bend. Ft mm finally solved that shit by having it closed of as to not break the mold. All tfs need this imo, at least the ones with an ab crunch. There's nothing more ugly than a tf that seems to have his back broken.

Also I said this b4, an ab crunch is minimal, when you bend forward you do it from your hips, not your lower back, lol. Ft mm has the perfect ab crunch that makes sense and looks good.

I customized mine with labels from toyhax and love it, but now I want another one just to have a cartoon accurate version. Anyone want to unload theirs?

i forgot what a great looking little figure this is inhand the transformation was easier than i remember :)  but i also forgot how much i hate the outward ratchets in the legs

would be a shame if its true and maketoys are going to give up with masterpiece style figures because they really do nail the g1 look

I just got my own Downbeat and some of the blue on the visor chipped off on two of the faces and it doesn’t look great. Any advice? The chrome is still there, just the blue used over it is partly chipped off.

What autobot logo are you all using in the allocated spot?

I’m going for the Reprolabels set to get the martini livery of the original but that autobot logo they include doesn’t look quite right.

I'm using one of the Reprolabels from Toyhax. Fits nicely, lines up well.

I don't have the Martini livery stickers, though.

Hey there, sorry to revive old posts, I just got myself a copy of this guy and wanted to spray the thighs shins and feet as you have. Just wanted to know if you had to do any prep of the surface before, especially on the already painted thighs, or sealing it with anything after, and how's it held up in the time since you did it? Thanks if you can help!
