Looking for some input on what movie comics are the best. Also, were there any comics associated with AOE or TLK?
As to your latter question, no comics were made to tie in with Age of Extinction. The Last Knight did have a couple of comics, but those were more so blatant advertisements than anything else. And for your former question, I'm also looking for the answer to that one.
Defiance and Tales of the Fallen. And also that unofficial storyline where the Autobots lost the first film and it was DOTM but a more bizarre version.
The best of the movie comics are IMO the ones John Barber has done - Sector 7, Foundation, Rising Storm and Bumblebee Movie Prequel. That being said, those comics are also pretty strongly continuity-driven, so you kind of have to have read the earlier material as well to fully appreciate them. Of that earlier material, I'd say maybe The Reign of Starscream and Defiance are best. The rest is mostly okayish, although Nefarious is basically just Furman rehashing a lot of ideas from the Skywatch/Machination parts of his IDW G1 run. For AOE, there's the five-issue Titan UK run which is aggressively unremarkable - most of the strips were clearly written before the writer knew the plot of the film, and an IDW "How to Train Your Dinobot" one-shot. TLK had a genuinely very good cross-promotional comedy comic advertising Schick razorblades, and a prequel comic given away with DVD/BD purchases at Toys R Us. I've not read it, but it's by the same company (ACE) who did the rubbish comic from the Bumblebee home video release, so I imagine it's also rubbish.
To be honest, I don't even bother to read the Bayverse comics. The only one I read was the Reign of Starscream #1 but that was because it was part of IDW's 30th anniversary book. One reason why I don't read them is due to the designs, which are just so confusing.
