In my opinion, I think this is the best job TT has done yet bringing together toon and real life aspects in a single toy. He looks pretty much like a real-life Jeep and the bot looks like it stepped off of the screen. Pretty magical. And masterful. Hopefully the QC is good and the transformation isn't some kind of nightmare. I haven't preordered him and don't think I will (space issues)...but I'm sure I'll get him one day...maybe hold out for a + version.

 

This. When I first saw the pics today I had to have it, then saw the price and immediately changed my mind completely.

Of course I did just complete the FT Dibots so maybe that expense is subconsciously affecting my thought process. But what is TT thinking with these prices???

I'm beginning to realize why this is the first time I've been in this thread in long time, and that's kinda sad to me, as I use to lurk here more than any other thread.

Case in point, my KO Sunstreaker was $45, and after having him for a couple months now I would say the most I would give for an official copy would be $60 - $80. Idk, seems like my days of buying an official MP are all but over.

 

I was ready to buy Hound when originally unveiled last year if he was Sunstreaker price, but there just isn’t anything new here for me. Toon colored Gundog is just too dang good and he just screams quality in your hands with his substantial heft. Takara is going down a road that I can not follow with Op v3, Bee v2 and now Hound. The new designs are not spanking the competition in the way they should for such a premium price and it truly makes me sad. I officially have no hope that they can one up Downbeat if they ever release a Jazz, so that only leaves me waiting for a Trailbreaker and a v2 Sideswipe to match his brother. Sideswipe is the one figure I’ll pay the stupid prices for as long as it doesn’t have obvious engineering faults like Bee and it’s kept well below $200.

 

Oh wait, never mind, I see the Spike figure looks to be overhauled. I guess the cost on this is justified after all. Just think if we got paint apps on Spikes face this could easily cost closer to $200.

 

The price for mine at Anime Export was around $160 CAD.

This is a must buy. 

I find it really hard to believe the people that are still saying Fans Toys is better. I owned that figure and I HATED how unstable the feet were. The transformation also had clearance issues. The only thing I will give FT is the plastic quality. 

Takara will undoubtedly have better engineering with transformation.

 

I had Willis and he was a good figure if you didn't transform him a lot, but you're probably right about the engineering and transformation, and for $60 or so I'll see for myself on the ko.

Nobody does. But given how takara works and how that aspect never falters I don’t think it’s fair to assume the engineering and transformation will flop. They’re professionals.

 

I think this figure looks fantastic.

Genuinely, I cannot find anything it does better than the FT version though. Maybe a few things are different but imo, nothing better.

Again, fantastic Hound TT, but this time you just took too long. Had I bought this first I would feel the same about the FT one.

"never falters" is a stretch. You might end up being correct, but without the figure in hand, an assumption is just that, not gospel.

 

I’m not positioning myself as gospel, I’m assuming normally. My assumptions are just strong cause of my reasoning.

 

So didn’t amazon.jp used to let you cancel pre orders almost all the way up release day? Noted the product page said no cancellations after June 23 for hound...

 

And no user error whatsoever obviously... 
Just bad QC.

 

They used to give you until the month before release or so, but this changed with MP Blackarachnia and Hound. The Preorder cancellation cutoff was only a few weeks after they were listed.
