The vans are some of my favorite molds, but I'd be down for 2.0s, or at least + versions with "the works" like Bluestreak. Maybe the only G1 reissue we're seeing this year is Soundwave because it's his last shot before a 2.0 hits in a year or three. And maybe with the busy schedule of new releases it's a bit crowded for more reissues?

 

Just kind of odd, you'd just figure they want Prime's inner circle readily available, minus Jazz due to his issues, we already have gotten or will have Prowl,Wheeljack, and Bee. I'm kind of expecting another plus or repaint in the Feb-April window so maybe we'll see them then.

 

Pretty sure Ironhide was reissued through TT once, 9 months after release (seem to remember pre-orders coming up on AE a second time). A sign of his popularity.

Reissues last December were indeed both Hasbro Asia, though.

If they give Ironhide 'fixed' hip panels in a + repaint, it'll be the first + version with major structural changes. Not saying it's impossible, though.

Really interesting nugget from TC. Weird that Porsche would find a problem with the feet, though - surely they would mainly care about the vehicle mode?

If they kept the bonnet opening, then like with Hound it might have to be on an armature. Although at least Jazz's deco has seams that could work logically for a transformation. Perhaps he'll have a somewhat 'fake' bonnet, anyway?

That's Shanghai Wonder Festival, different from the usual Japanese one. Anything's possible!

 

I think the late '16 Ironhide reissue you're thinking of was HA. It's the one I got that has solid chrome and the die cast drill & briefcase accessory. Yeah, re-tooling would be the only thing that could really make anime+ releases of the vans more cartoon accurate - their deco's great! I think it's more likely we'd just get 2.0s down the road. Curious that the vans still haven't had a black Diaclone repaint.

I can't remember exactly what TC said, but I do recall him saying Porsche wasn't sold on the figure and that the feet were too big or clunky, though those may have been unrelated. I hope an MP Jazz wouldn't have a fake hood! I'm not sure he'd need any fake parts, tbh.

 

I guess there goes another chance of jazz all because of Porsche again.

 

Not really, if Porsche didn't like the feet, Takara just had to go back and redesign the feet. I suspect they might have been unhappy with how the spoiler splits in half (and the whole back of the car, for that matter), and therefore had a seam line down the middle?

 

Ok. I didn't realize it was because of the feet. I think it was just in general still.

Two BWs and two G1s in one year might be more likely.

I feel like TT will keep playing the 35th anniversary card even with their announcements this year. As such, Starscream seems high on the table (the 35th anniversary is an 'excuse' to do him).

We're still at the point where any new G1 MP is extremely exciting to me, whether it be Starscream v3, Soundwave v2 or a brand new character. If it's a brand new Decepticon it's equally as interesting.

Can't rule out the possibility of them making MP-50 Galvatron. Let's see what announcements the second half of this year bring us (hopefully not nothing!)

Per Porsche's demands of avoiding breaking up their car too much with unusual seam lines, I could see him having fake parts. Or perhaps the opposite is true, that they'll have to use real parts as much as possible, to cleanly hide certain car parts in bot mode.

The last 'solid' rumour we got stated that Jazz and Mirage would both be announced this year, right? I still think that seems unlikely, but I can believe it for one of the two of them at least.

Perhaps it could be on an armature that brings it up under the hood and into the chest for robot mode?


At this point I expect Jazz to cost 22,000 Yen (same as MP-10). And the truth is a lot of people would still pay that.

 

Wonder Festival isn't this weekend. Summer WonFes is next month, July 29th this year, I believe.

Ah, that makes sense. I've never followed the Chinese scene (though I did buy my first Chinese-origin figure and she's gorgeous, might do another soon!), but I don't think we'd necessarily see anything new from Takara. I'd expect maybe a release/reissue of something as yet unreleased from Hasbro Asia, maybe. I mean, hey, how weird would it be if they rolled out something like BW Grimlock there?  

 

The last rumor for Jazz that I am tracking was on 5 May 2018.

"As mentioned few months, MP Hound will be revealed this year. And, a staff from Hasbro Asia also mentioned that MP Jazz and Mirage will be sold next year. BTW, a repaint of MP Shockwave is in the pipeline. Not sure how true it is, please take this with a mountain of salt"

We got a Shockwave repaint and Hound was revealed last year. No news of Jazz or Mirage. Its possible they were delayed because of the issues with Hound and or issues with Porsche. Still hoping for a Jazz or Mirage reveal next year.

 

I was actually JUST thinking this, and how amazed I am by this.

 

I remember there was a rumor with Tigatron and Jazz during the reveal of Blackarachnia. Didn't really hear what the full rumor was.

 

I forgot about that one. Someone said their source was right after Blackarachnia was revealed at Wonder Festival. Tigertron and some others were also suppose to be revealed.

If my memories servers me right I believe Megatron 2.0 was rumored to be revealed several times before he actually got revealed.

 

That rumor said Jazz and Mirage would be sold next year. If that ends up being true as well, then my guess is we probably won't get a reveal until the end of the year.

 

At least a silhouette at the convention will be all to convince us they are happening.
