'ello. Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you help me with a choice. I'm looking for a masterpiece scale Cyclonus to go with my Fanstoys Sovereign and X-Transbots Andras, and I can't for the life of me make my mind up.

A friend of mine lent me his Eligos figure and I was really impressed with it. Nice chunky feel, really fits in with Scourge and Galvatron, and while the transformation is just abysmal, he looks good in jet mode as well. He does lack details though, and face sculpt is mediocre. Quietus looks great, but I'm worried about him being too small and thin (especially compared to beefy sovereign), and the QC issues with the scratching paint put me off. Did they ever fix those? Also, that fancy metallic pain job looks like it would stick out a bit too much.

I suppose what I'm asking is how does Quietus measure up to Eligos? Like I said, Eligos seems like a good figure, but Fanstoys have a habit of just being plain better (at least in my experience). However, if I'm going to fork out for Quietus, the last thing I want is having his fancy paint scratched up a few days later.

So, anyone got any first-hand experience with these two? Thanks.

    I own both.

I am also not a Fans Toys fanboy. Nor am I a G1 fanboy (although it used to be my favorite and I grew up with it - and have an extremely extensive MP collection).

Now with that out of the way ... .... FansToys is leagues better than XTB's version. Like, immensely.

None of my paint has scratched or chipped. You'll likely get a "good one" and the paint had more time to cure. Let it sit on the shelf for a week before applying any labels.

I was just in this same boat and ended up going with Quietus. To me, while Eligos was larger and bulkier, Quietus looks more refined overall.

    Here is a good comparison:

I have Eligos. He's decent, but I've been trying to sell mine for a while to pick up Quietus. Just like the aesthetic better.

FansToys, and I'm not even a particularly huge fan of FansToys' toys.

They both have the same big issue: they suck at actually transforming. However, Quietus is just better built and better painted, and makes for a superb display piece in both modes. He looks and feels a lot more high-end than Eligos even though the two released at similar prices.

    If I didn’t own either, I would probably spring for FT’s, but I’m not in any particular hurry to replace Eligos;

I think Eligos looks the part more, but he’s kind of a statue, not a lot of dynamic posing available because his legs don’t really allow for it (like a lot of TFs, looking at you, Phoenix).
If you go Fanstoys I believe you need to be careful for paint scratching during transformation.

I've owned both. The FT has a way better build but I sold it. Love the sculpt and presence of Eligos a lot more.

    Own both

For a toon display, Eligos. For a modernized MP display, Quietus

Same here except I sold Eligos to buy Quietus and kinda wish I hadn't. Quietus is "better" but for some reason Eligos looked better to me on the shelf with other bots...

I got eligos not long after it came out along with its translucent version. FT’s was initially an easy pass because I too thought it was too small from what I saw; but then I saw comparison videos like this.

I’m still in no rush to replace, but had I seen this video (that has the applicable characters side-by-side), when I was bundling things for flash sales, I might’ve had a different display lineup.

I have both and like Quietus by a factor of about a million. Eligos is a decent mold but I just can't past that cheap, lifeless, plasticky gumball finish. No shelf presence compared to Quietus' lustrous paint, sleeker profile and sharper face sculpt. imo.

If you don't transform him, get Quietus. I am waiting for a second, improved run of Quietus or a better figure, but currently have chosen to have nothing as Eligos didn't do it for me. I bought Quietus for the alt mode and my copy had a bunch of QC issues, so I have gotten rid of the figure. Other people have had better luck, but I personally wouldn't risk transforming him now that I know how bad the paint issues were, at least with my copy. Quietus was a mixed bag in terms of QC, some people supposedly got flawless copies while a lot of early adapters got ones with paint that just flaked off the chest like a shell off of candy. It's a beautiful statue/model in both modes, but one that I'd just recommend not handling a whole bunch. If you're cool with that, it's a great figure to have--I wasn't.

Quietus. Alt mode alone is just sleeky , sexy & amazingly beautiful.
