Tatsu has a Sazabi MG ver. Ka and a Nightingale Re/100 in their shop, the boxes are as big as the 1/48 Megas
You will enjoy it!! Well... you see why. The Sazabi is all about what's under the hood and how it all moves together and it's still a massive presence. Nightingale is size just for glorious show. The cavernous shell parts .. for parts this big, their molding is fantastic. detailing on the underside is simple but it's there and will look better painted. Full undercoating pattern planning. but there's enough undercarraige in the thrusters to work around. and now that I mention it.. doesn't this look like Dr. Zoidberg? woop woop woop **Three times faster
Multitasking between Char's final Mobile Suits tonight. First Sazabi, the micro missiles for the shield are painted and mounted and the beam sabers are starting to match the rest of the weapons. Black handles for everything. I wanted to work on the Funnel Containers and propellent tanks but they will need another coat of red paint another night. And then some starter work for Nightingale. I know I started planning how I want to work on another kit, but I think I will take on this model next instead following the Sazabi. I'm painting the indentations and recessed spaces on the surface and undersides of the armor. It will take some cleaning with Mr.Color thinner to get the excess paint off of the raised framing, but it will really add some depth to the kit overall. This was easier to paint by hand than the size of the parts makes it look to be, and I did it using a microbrush as a wet mop. Simply dab the microfiber brush head in the paint and then into a pool of acrylic thinner to make it dilute and pull across the recessed surfaces and spread more evenly. My finishing coats will be more steady and level using a regular brush.
Lieutenant Burning's RGM-79N completed. Spare beam sabers serve as thruster trails and 50mm slug vapor trails. Gato's stolen GP02 'Physalis' is next.
Continuing from yesterday...the only Origin Feddie MS I have. Overall in my collection O have more mono-eyes than anything else. I love these three. I need to get a second yellow funcannon to complete the pair. Origin Heavy Gundam rocks. So much awesome under the hood and I'm glad The Origin GMs share that engineering.
Heavy Gundam is just great. Hes got RG style shifting armor in the knees and lots of joints in the torso. Absolutely worth it. He was also the first kit that startes a trend for me. I always drill oit the muzzles MS guns now. Just makes them look a hell of a lot nicer. I believe all the Origin GMs use the same torso engineering as Heavy Gundam. It makes them all cool as hell.
Yeah, I need the Early Guncannon Test Types, the stock Iron Cavalry version is a great suit in the sense the light armor gives so much range of articulation. Though at this point I'm shocked they havent made an Origin Ball twin set. The only real flaw with the existing Balls is they dont have opening cockpit hatches and the freakin' Zaku Cannon does this by default. They would make a KILLING on Origin Mobile Balls - doubly so if they hybridized Origin "RG" style with Thunderbolt "sub-arms fucking EVERYWHERE" equipment.
So, I’m knew to getting into Gundam. I started out doing a couple SD kits and then an HG Bearguy for my 9 and 10 year old kids. After those I decided to just go crazy and pretty much jump right into a MG for me and did the F91 2.0 I loved it and loved the complexity I imagine it will be hard for me to enjoy HG kits after completing that. I basically just bought a cheap package with nippers to get started but wanted to actually get a decent pair before I start a new kit. I probably won’t pull the trigger on God Hands since they are around $50; does anybody have a good rec for decent priced nippers that don’t leave stress marks.
Gundam Planent and USA Gundam Store are now selling their own versions of a single blade nipper, it's a cheaper alternative to the Godhand but it's the steel quality that sets it apart. - Continuing where I left off last night to finish painting the Funnel Containers and propellent tanks. Adding more paint to the veined interior of the containers.
opened GP02A, checked all the runners and suddenly found a part came apart inside the bag my nuclear bazooka's barrel, of all parts that could have broken ;-; F to pay respects. I'll press on, tho. Soon, the Stardust side of the shelf will be complete. RGM-79Q will go with against my Zeta Plus C1 once I get to them.
We've all had new kits with sheared parts, Nightingale had it too. but it doesn't look too bad, and you can polish it out with an emory block. - Sanding mistakes happen too. The propellent tanks are done, but I'll need to polish the tubing again before I give it a clear coat.
That gm kit is tempting but I'm probably going to be satisfied with the Rd anime version when they get around to it eventually. I noticed when I was finishing up the Dynames that the nippers I have been using that came in a big "kit" from Amazon were leaving some terrible nub and stress marks. So I figured why not try the godhand ultimate out. I'm not sure if I'll start a kit this weekend with my current nippers. I mean I have plenty of kits to choose from. Mg proto zero arrived along with hg sinanju Stein and Gustav Karl. And this evening I ordered hg Messala. I've been wanting that one for a while now. I love Scirocco's suits. I looked at MG The O and it looks really impressive but that price tag just leaves me less than enthusiastic. I have watched a few reviews for the mg Zeta Gundam 2.0 and I think I'll hold off for a 3.0. I doubt it comes anytime soon though. Hyaku Shiki 2.0 on the other hand is one I'm seriously considering. I even looked at ZZ ver ka. I have watched so many reviews and browsed around so much lately that I'm not sure what I want to get. I have also bought so so many kits I'm not sure which one to do next. But I'm sure I will figure something out for the weekend. And then next weekend begins my vacation so hopefully I will be able to enjoy a kit or two with relative peace and quiet.
What's the word on the MG AGE 2? Because I've been thinking hard about maybe grabbing the MG AGE 2 Magnum at the local store for just over $50 + tax.
The original MG Gundam AGE-2 do suffers from loose joints (especially at the shoulder joints) and a fiddly transformation; just like most transformable MG kits. From what I known, the new MG Gundam AGE-2 Magnum uses a completely new shoulder joint assembly instead of the old MG AGE-2 shoulder joints (Addressing the loose shoulder joint issue of the original). Unless you really like the AGE-2 Magnum, I'll probably recommend the MG Gundam AGE-1 normal more, despite using the same shoulder joint like the original MG AGE-2.
